We should buy airtime on 3AW or Sky News, maybe then the message will begin sinking in. Get Elliot to do a live read if what more the nsw government should do. Money talks, surely he can be bought.
They sure do, but why are they flouting the rules? Is the support there for them from the government to follow the rules?
The state government, the federal government and to some extent, the people of NSW are all responsible for the current situation here. No wonder the rest of the country currently hates our guts.
Unfortunately, I suspect this prediction is likely to become true.
It wouldnât even surprise me if NSW sees days with 1000+ cases of community transmission in the coming weeks, thatâs how grim things are looking at the moment.
FFS, NSW is not subject to a âlightâ lockdown.
It also doesnât account for the fact that transmission has been and continued to be prevalent in workplaces and in homes
The list of allowed businesses isnât that dissimilar to what has applied in other states and fall well within a reasonable expectation of what an essential business is
Distance restrictions have to be practical and workable
The curfew has little to no public health benefit and it wasnât supported on health grounds in Victoria (which I note have not elected to use the measure in subsequent lockdowns). A ring of steel is no guarantee either - again Victoria showed that, for all the calls by Victoria for NSW to have one, theyâve again not elected to institute this measure in subsequent lockdowns (like now).
This is what we should be focusing on - determining what the issues are and how they can be resolved.
This again? Can members please stop guessing random numbers and posting them? It isnât good for mental health and if the wrong member sees them who knows how it will take?
Please be careful with your language too. Grim is not something that needs to be heard at a time like this.
Thereâs no political will for it locally when the rhetoric is focused on the border (hence the border bubble is practically dead and buried). That, and it would require Victoria Police to do some work.
Itâs not nice is it, people need to be careful with words.
But Iâve been in meetings with western and south western Sydney people all morning, itâs the kind of language theyâre using to cope with the reality, the sugar coating is finished for these people, theyâre seeing through the spin and victim balling others are choosing to employ.
Oh would you just leave me alone!!! I canât take much more of this. Please just stop replying to me.
Personally, as someone whoâs been through this, the best thing to do is stay out of these threads. That worked for me last year. Itâs just too much day in day out at times.
Iâm actually agreeing with you and sharing my experience. If itâs a trigger then Iâm sorry, itâs not intended as such. People deal with these situations differently, perhaps engaging in social media isnât the best for everybody.
My local Chemist is vaccinating today. They have converted their garage in the side street as a Vax centre. They have AZ vaccines and are ready to go but people werenât going there today. It was empty.
I hope that the above predictions turn out to be wrong. I really do.
But although grim mightnât be something people want to hear (as per David), at the same time I donât think being completely oblivious to reality and pretending everything will get better when itâs unlikely to is a particularly healthy attitude to take either.
If it counts for anything at all, Iâll be getting my first shot in a couple of days. But my vaccination status being publicly online isnât going to help the rest of Sydney/NSW get their shots, we need more high profile celebrities (TV newsreaders, breakfast radio hosts, NRL players, etc.) publicly disclosing their COVID-19 vaccination status to encourage more takeup of the shots and hopefully, the easing of restrictions sooner rather than later.
Edit: Iâve seen from your subsequent post, you need to take some time away. Untrack the thread and take a day or two away.
i donât think you can make that generalisation. For me personally, it was a coping mechanism to always assume and discuss the worst case scenario. Any positivity and optimism just turned out to be sugar-coating, false hope and denial, which in turn was much more damaging.
With that said, Tuesdays have had low case numbers, associated with lower test results for the last 4 weeks. Today the lower test results were there but record cases and a record proportion unlinked & in the community. Could be a rough week.
Hazzaed said at the parliamentary inquiry today when the Greens asked for the cabinet documents regarding why certain decisions were made ie why they didnât lock down earlier. He refused to release the documents. This is very important information that should be released by the government. What have they got to hide? They should be forced to reveal all the documents.
Because then they will be guilty as charged.
Well too bad people have died as a result of their decisions not sure of the latest stat but at least 30 have. They need to take responsibility for it, the public should be insisting on it. Itâs similar to Daniel Andrews and hotel quantine I am not convinced that one person didnât make the decision to not use appropriate security personnel. The consequences are too high we should expect more from our elected officials. It is not acceptable for the documents to not be made available.
Lockdown was too slow.
Really?
Thatâs a surprise.
