COVID-19: Greater Sydney & NSW Re-Opens

Vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate - it’s the way out.

As the SMH said - too much talk about if Bunnings should be open or not and not enough talk about the way out of this

My concern is this will continue to deteriorate in the coming months.

It’s pretty clear the best option they have is trying to hold the numbers they have today, until Jan.

They can’t let it go any further. That should be the short term aim. Don’t let it get away any further. Forget the 100s. Forget reaching zero. It is what it is.

Another new record for the ‘Gold Standard’.

Also from less testing from previous days. Imagine if they did 120,000+ tests…that figure would be astonishing.

What the hell is Glady’s logic;

reporter: “its clear that the strategy isn’t working and we aren’t doing enough, why aren’t we doing more?”
Gladys: “because we are dealing with a new variant that is more infectious than anything we have seen before”

Yep, and we are well aware! Unfortunately we have been a little fucked in this area.

Now Hazzard is again saying don’t do the wrong thing, even though our slack rules allow it.

“You can’t legislate…”, yet they seem happy to change laws all the time. And “a bit of common sense” again. FFS.

Doesn’t mean that what you and other members are saying is correct though.

I just think from a restriction point of view, there’s no point in implementing things such as curfews which have no use. The only measures which could be implemented now are draconian ones.

Well the current lockdown-lite isn’t working, so what do you suggest can be announced today and start tonight to further reduce the spread?

Hazzard again with the “We have the strictest rules in NSW” BS.

Decided by you….
I guess we look forward to the same conversation from yourself again tomorrow, along with a random link from the Herald sun. Can’t wait.

From hearing bits and pieces of the press conference, it seems to me that the real problem is with compliance, not lockdown and restrictions.

Time for tougher penalties for those who break the rules to scare them off doing it. Jail time or heavy fines.

It’s clear they won’t be increasing any form of restrictions. What we have it what is it. They are fucking stubborn.

The big risk with this, is its about to takeoff.

Pretty sure Victoria had the strictest last year, as well as SA during the Parafield Cluster. QLD, WA, NT also had harsher rules.

Hazzard is just trying to distract everyone from his government’s stupidity and incompetence.

‘Numbers are dropping in places like Fairfield who are following the rules’

Then why the hell aren’t you putting those mechanisms in place everywhere if it’s working? I just don’t understand this mob.

Great leadership. Just blame blame blame the people. NSW is going to be in this for much longer and much worse than VIC did last year at this rate.

I don’t think there is anything that can be done.

The leaders got the Public addicted to the drug that is zero covid.

It sure felt good when it was in abundant supply. Life was happy!

But now they’ve realized the supply is not sustainable - and the (NSW) politicians have begun the difficult and messy task of weening the Public off the zero covid drug

Coming off the addiction is always the hardest part.

Until you realize what felt so good - is actually what was preventing you from moving forward with life

Can I give this question to you, what would you do to reduce the spread? I’m genuinely keen to hear.

The NSW Government (and the Feds) have dropped the ball - but the people of NSW who are flouting the rules have to take some responsibility too. Reducing the number of infectious people still circulating will help greatly reduce numbers.

Today’s press conference yet again showed that the journalists who attend are still focusing on the wrong thing, asking every day about a “ring of steel” or curfews isnt going to change the Governments mind - start focusing on trying to determine why there are still people out in the community that are infectious.

Feel free to look at what I’ve previously said.

But I’ll repeat a few now:
Consistent rules across all of greater Sydney (getting rid of the confusion from the current crazy situation of tighter restrictions on one side of the street versus the other), require masks outdoors, reduce the distance people are allowed to travel (from 10 km to 5 km or even less), compensate people so they can isolate (including/especially casuals), require care workers be vaccinated.

I’d say the answer is simple, its a light lockdown and people can be out in the community, so they are.

In a hard lockdown where people can’t go to bunnings & non-essential retail, cant be out after curfew, and cant go out of the ring of steel, they aren’t out infecting others.
