Byron Shire mayor Michael Lyon told the ABC that the man had travelled to Byron Bay after spending time in Sydney with his wife who had COVID-19, and had not been cooperative with police and health authorities, who are now attempting to carry out contact tracing for the region.

im sure its been said that hazzard makes the advice and dr chants just words what he says

Doesn’t sound like a “ring of steal” would have stopped him. Sometimes you just can’t fix stupid.

I think that’s selling Dr Chant short. Probably more likely she’s giving the advice and being ignored higher up. I believe the CHO in NSW does not have the same powers in a state of emergency that other state CHOs have.

I believe the powers you refer to are vested in combination with the Health Minister and the CHO

Regional NSW and especially outback QLD forget it. Different mindsets outs there.

Cairns has just had a wake up call. As probably the most shielded place on the land in regards to restrictions, watch the vax numbers start to jump.

so how does that work??? does she have to comprimise with the health minister??

I think it’s very obvious Dr Chant is being ignored.

Dr Chant seems like a smart lady. All these CHO are the same.

It’s obvious someone Senior has been pulling rank. Not :eyes: at anyone - Berejiklian and Hazzard.

The situation is quite concerning at the moment especially with it leaking from Sydney to the north quite extensively this week (and potentially from Queensland with the Lismore/Byron cluster).

Given the size of regional NSW though, I do wonder would a better interim measure to stop it from spreading further be a 50km radius limit on how far you can travel from your home (if you are a regional NSW resident)? This way, regions that still have no cases can still have relative freedom while this should also reduce the likelihood of it leaking from region to region like we are seeing at the moment.

I would also recommend this as an idea that should be considered for regional Victoria as well, certainly as an alternative to statewide lockdowns.

356 is a new daily record for locally acquired cases in NSW.

Four more people had died from COVID: A man in his 80s from south west Sydney died at Liverpool Hospital. He acquired his infection as part of the Liverpool Hospital outbreak. A woman in her 80s from south west Sydney died at Liverpool Hospital but was not linked to the Liverpool Hospital outbreak. A man in his 70s from western Sydney died at Nepean Hospital. A man in his 80s from northern NSW died at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He acquired his infection overseas and is not linked to the current outbreak. Gladys said the latter three were not vaccinated.

147 of today’s 356 cases are linked to a known case or cluster – 119 are household contacts and 28 are close contacts – and the source of infection for 209 cases is under investigation. 102 cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period and 40 were in isolation for part of their infectious period. 57 cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 157 remains under investigation.

121 of the reported cases were from south west Sydney and 113 were from western Sydney. 13 were from Hunter New England health district.

Look at the hospital figure. Fuck.

Are we sure the government is doing everything they can to control the spread?

Disastrous.

You’re joking, right?

Ministers are responsible, they make the decisions and can change the law. Experts in the public service can only recommend, and as I’ve previously said being a public servant who pushes against what the government (politicians) want will just lose their job.

356 more locally-acquired cases in NSW (just announced), 254 were not in isolation while infectious.
The LNP NSW government have failed the electorate, and the nation.

If they were at all competent they’d be announcing tightening of restrictions, something to try to reduce the spread. This rate of growth in case numbers is very concerning.

I think it’s highly evident “NO”

What more can people expect the NSW government do? I don’t think any more measures can be implemented that aren’t already in place. Banning leaving the home for exercise would be too harsh, but might have to be done.

Shall I post my list again?

What more can they do? Emergency isolation payments to people forced into quarantine for being a close contact, like what Victoria does, so sick people don’t go to work.

This is an absolute disaster.

All because Gladys was too arrogant and believed she was too good for a snap lockdown months ago.

We keep writing and repeating this to you, but for some reason you chooseto ignore what other members are telling you.

You keep asking the same questions on daily front.
