He’s avoiding saying it.
Trying to avoid the fact that he and his government have fucked up.
It’s such a wishy washy press conference.
He is certainly rambling on, without saying much. He certainly doesn’t want to go on too much about how bad yesterday’s figures are.

The total number of COVID cases in the Hunter region is now 13.
Two cases.

UPDATED:
ACM reports that a female in her 20s from Armidale, who recently visited Newcastle, is a contact of a confirmed Newcastle case. A man in his 50s, also from Armidale, is a household contact of the female in her 20s.
Armidale LGA will go into lockdown from 5pm today until 12.01am on Sunday August 15. The rules will be the same as those for the eight council areas in the Hunter Valley region.
Ugh just lockdown the whole state already ffs.
You knew it wasnt a great set of numbers when he started with the vaccines
I thought something was odd when he started the press conference by talking about the number of vaccinations across NSW, and the Olympic Park vaccine hub, rather than revealing the number of new locally acquired cases.
How are we not even seeing the effects of the harsher restrictions they imposed over the last few weeks or so?
That was absolutely terrible listening to that. Amateur shit at its best. Please get him off.
If I had personally recommended this comms strategy to the minister I’d be looking for another job. Woeful.
It just doesn’t make sense does it.
Followed by an announcement of “a good day out for the food providers of Sydney”.
It took him more than 6 minutes to get to the case numbers by which time they had been posted on line for a couple of minutes and were on the chyrons.
I’m not trying do a state vs state comparison here… we all should be learning from each other. But just compare the difference between the NSW and Victorian press conference at the moment. It’s like watching chalk and cheese.
Victoria is just so black and white, straight to the point, these are rules, facts and this is what needs to be done.
NSW is just so all over the place and so wishy washy. Clearly it’s been full of mix messages from the start.
While the NSW Government’s response has been woeful, it seems some locals also need to play their part. Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys said:
Our provisions that to go out for exercise for recreation and there are certain boundaries around that. To purchase food but what we are seeing is people using that reasonable excuse to go out and purchase food, takeaway, coffee, to then go on and collocate and gather for an extended period of time – but congregate. It is not what we want people to do.
This sort of discourse really doesnt help from journalists - Charlestown wasn’t locked down at the time of these contacts
From the current press conference this morning, it seems like the NSW government have also given up and this doesn’t help translate well into the community to follow the rules.
I just feel for Sydney, I really do guys. Christmas couldn’t come fast enough.
armidale lga which includes guyra
I feel the QLD pressers are also fairly consistent, logical and easy to follow. First the Premiere gives the case numbers, vaccinations, tests, and compliance summary. The CHO talks details of the cases, Health Minister talks to vaccination and testing then QLD Police talk out compliance, fines arrests etc.
The acknowledgment for deaths was particularly awful
Why do the journalists never ask about the ring of steel. Even on days that it leaks into regional nsw and causes further lockdowns.
Such an obvious, targeted, low cost/high reward measure with proven effectiveness. Make them argue against it.
