COVID-19: Greater Sydney & NSW Re-Opens

NSW tends to follow a similar format when the Premier is there (usually tests, then case numbers) - Hazzard seems to think that its good to mix it up.

A total of four staff and 29 patients from the geriatric ward at Liverpool Hospital have contracted coronavirus.

NSW Health mentioned earlier that 3 elderly people died at Liverpool Hospital yesterday, bringing to five the number of deaths now linked to the Liverpool Hospital outbreak.

EDIT:

Compare Daniel Andrew’s (Vic) to Brad Hazzards (NSW) current press conference this morning. The difference is amazing.

She is copping a absolute belting across all media at the moment.

Hazzard has never been a good communicator. Dan has an army in Communications and PR behind the scene orchestrating his public perception. No other premier has that.

I mean look at Dan. Nearly 1pm and his still talking? Sweet Jesus the difference is mind blowing.

Clearly it was too soon to give Brad Hazzard any credit. He sounded like a babbling fool who didn’t even know what he was talking about.

Absolutely shambles management by the NSW government.

Two University of Newcastle students have tested positive to COVID-19, among four new cases recorded in the Hunter region.

The university has confirmed that NSW Health has transferred these students, who reside at the Callaghan campus, into their care.

Standing there and answering every question isn’t necessarily a good strategy.

Nine News Sydney got an exclusive look inside a COVID vaccine warehouse.

Inside the Linfox Healthcare distribution centre, warehouse staff are currently working around the clock to get hundreds of thousands of the AstraZeneca vaccine doses out into the arms of the state.

With the company currently responsible for about 50 per cent of Australia’s vaccine distribution, Linfox National Business Manager Michelle Slevin says the entire team takes their part “very seriously.”’

The single Sydney facility alone handles around 500,000 vials a week.

Great strategy if your end game is to look transparent and accountable. My normally conservative dad watches both pressers daily and has a better opinion of Dan than Gladys. Nearly fell off my chair when he said it.

Main thing he notes is that Gladys tends to deflect blame, whereas Dan talks about why blame won’t solve problem.

Shook my head when I watched it. “Anything else? Oh yeah five deaths, anyway we now cross live to NSW Health…”

Mind you, deaths have always been weirdly handled in NSW pressers. Gladys won’t mention deaths at all in her opening spiel (except for the 27yo) but Chant will mention it later.

What the hell has NSW been doing for 6 months if all of these “at risk” citizens aren’t vaccinated yet? What a waste of time.

I ask the same question every day

Mind you - as much as I think governments the world over have botched this, there is also a huge element of personal responsibility

What rock have these individuals been living under for the last 18 months of the pandemic to not know to get vaccinated the very second it becomes available to you

It’s just such a waste of life. That 60 year old could have had another 20 years if he was vaxxed.

He’s the kind of guy who would say something like: “They died, it happens, move on.”

He’s a joke.

And they have being vaccinating the wrong cohorts… it should have been international airport and associated transport and hotel quarantine workers and international freight terminal workers that were vaxxed first, if you stop COVID there, I reckon you pretty much stop it getting into the country.

Precisely considering they were in 1A along with the aged care/vulnerable people. Fact in point, if that limo driver who was the index case in Sydney had been vaccinated then this outbreak may have been a lot less severe than the mess it is right now as his transmissibility level would’ve been much lower than it was.

I just assumed aircrew as in those three Cargo FedEx Pilots were transported to hotels with people in hazmat suit like protection. I mean those busses with international arrives, and crews in cars moving to and from hotels, treat them all as positive as many actually are.

I walked past one of the quarantine hotels in Melbourne and there is like half dozen astronauts who greet the passengers off the bus, the army at a distance with barriers up, yet the limo driver just wears a mask. Seems off.
