Approaching winter in Europe, not surprising at all. I wonder about the proportion of the latest cases being of newer strains like C12?
And the fact that a lot of these countries were vaccinated early on means that vaccine immunity is starting to wane across the board, coupled with the fact that most of those countries have a double vaxxed rate that is lower than Australia (which was unthinkable 6 months ago), and itās no wonder cases are starting to trickle back up again.
McGowan will be announcing a plan with required rates of vaccination and possible opening dates on Friday.
Also dropping NSW to āHigh Riskā from Saturday.
Thereās now 3 new local cases.
What percentage of vaccination was Tasmania going to open up to NSW and Victoria? Was it 80% or 90% double vaccinated?
I think itās 90%
Watch as she panics and locks down a whole tableā¦
So while itās an announcement, the only thing of substance that changes is the āGreen Zoneā declaration for Sydney and the ACT in Victoria.
The only effect of that is just to allow non-fully vaccinated NSW/ACT residents to enter Victoria without requiring a test.
On the NSW side, nothing will have changed at all.
So with VIC/NSW borders opening, what does this mean for the easing of restrictions in WA for NSW? They going to reneg again? Or make it the same for VIC?
We will find out tomorrow. That is when McGowan is scheduled to announce the plan to reopen to everyone.
Thatās so kind of him to announce a plan 10 years in advance.
Smart ass. Although I admit I laughed.
Iām sure he wonāt please everyone but people have been asking for a plan and tomorrow we should get one.
The NT has announced a positive case in Katherine. Katherine goes into lockdown, Darwin goes into a lockout.
The case is a man in his 20s who is a contract worker on RAAF Base Tindal in Katherine. He is not vaccinated. He developed symptoms on Tuesday and was tested on Wednesday. A firm positive was confirmed last night.
Katherine went into a 3-day lockdown at midnight last night, while in Greater Darwin, unvaccinated people must stay at home unless itās for essential reasons, while vaccinated people can still leave their homes but have to wear a mask.
I am confused by the announcement of the Vic/NSW border. What is different? I thought it opened up on the 1st of November.
The difference is that fully vaccinated people from NSW wonāt have to get tested for COVID when they arrive in Victoria. They wonāt also have to go into quarantine if they have been to an exposure site prior to departure.
