COVID-19: Discussion of Impact 😷

Courier Mail are running an article today suggesting a link between Queensland CHO’s husband and Pfizer - I’m guessing this is some kind of attempt at a “media hit job” to discredit her comments about AZ

Good. If it’s true catch her out.

Well she did say that she thinks a young person has more of a chance of dying from AZ than covid which patently wrong wrong wrong on all levels. Her level of extreme rhetoric is so damaging to vaccine messaging.

Whilst I don’t particularly like Jeanette Young because she denied exemptions to end of live visits last year etc., I do agree with her on the vaccines.

Surely she wouldn’t be making these comments about young people not getting AZ unless she had good reason? She must’ve done her own research or have had studies presented to her that indicate young people should steer clear from AZ.

If I’m being honest, I’m more afraid of the potential long term effects of taking the vaccine than I am of catching covid. I will take the vaccine because it’s the right thing to do, and I doubt our politicians would let us take it if they thought there was a high risk, but I’m just a bit skeptical of how quick it’s been developed and rolled out.

And if there was an outbreak directly from one of these exemptions, who would you blame?

Tucker Carlson is that you??

All 185 contacts have been identified, and all tests so far have returned negative results, according to Peter Gutwein today.

Tasmania and NT have both imposed border restrictions to people coming from Cairns, effective this afternoon. Their restrictions for 11 local government areas in South East Queensland will remain in place for the time being.

What are the quarantine rules in England for returning travellers? I’ve noticed a lot of the Tokyo athletes who have returned home are out and about and with family etc.

I believe it all opened up for those fully vaccinated.

So saying Australia needs 80 percent? vaccinated to stop lockdowns… what happens to the 20 percent who aren’t vaccinated? Are they talking about some sort of herd immunity?

If they’ve been offered the jab and refused they’re on their own. The rest of society shouldn’t have to suffer through restrictions because of a misinformed few.

70% should be the point where we are very unlikely to see lockdowns and mostly measures like masks and restrictions to play the part. Herd immunity is a factor at this point but COVID will still be in the community so it’s where individuals need to take responsibility for themselves. A lot of these people hesitant or against a vaccine are in a privileged position right now with low covid rates in Aus… but they won’t be when we let it go and fully open.

Good news. Moderna vaccine has been approved for use in Australia.

Watching the media conference on ABC News channel now; Morrison and Hunt seem to be offloading their government’s responsibility for aged care & vaccination onto residents & their families.

Now Morrison has refused to require vaccinations in the federal public service and NDIS. Shoring up his support among the anti-vax nutter crowd?

Still so far way for us in Australia. Again a terrible lack of organisation by our federal government. These are likely to be the booster shots for next year. It would just be great if they had organised more of this for this year.

In other news, and I know the Government is at loggerheads with China, but our response has been very similar to China. They have used similar quick snap lockdowns to contain outbreaks.

Although apparently this week there was an outbreak in Wuhan and they have tested 11.5 million of the 12 million population in a week. Its a pity Sydney or even Melbourne couldn’t attempt to do the same thing.

Very different type of government lol.

Is it :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I don’t know, my door was never hammered shut, was yours?
