Hungary had a new record for daily cases yesterday, looks like they are the epicenter of a new wave in eastern & Central Europe.
Still not as bad as Czech Republic. Hungary’s response to the pandemic has been terrible since the beginning. Their vaccination method seems to be a bit strange as well. They are using 5 different vaccines at the moment.
Yesterday’s positive case in an international air crew member has been reclassified and removed from Victoria’s case numbers. Further testing and information received yesterday indicates this was a case of intermittent shedding from a past infection overseas. The case returned overseas on a flight last night.

I wonder how politically motivated the vaccination process is for Israel? An election is coming in the next few weeks. Apparently they are even considering a fourth lockdown.
I don’t think so. Israel are starting to open certain things up (like restaurants) to people that are fully vaccinated, which is about 40% of the population.

So perhaps it wasn’t relevant. I guess they are concerned as it is curbing upwards again rather than down.

The Victorian government has enlisted international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills to fight the claims. The dismissal application is currently listed to be heard on May 31.

I flew to Melbourne from Sydney over the weekend. No border controls whatsoever.

How was it coming back? When I flew into Adelaide last year I waited around 30 minutes for them to check my border pass. Is it the same coming back into Melbourne?
Zilch. I got back from Sydney about 2 weeks ago and there were 2 DHHS officials there doing absolutely bugger all - begs the question of what the point is? I get it can help in contact tracing i.e. knowing who is in the state etc but the airlines do a decent job of that themselves.

What is happening in Brazil. As the rest of the world seems to be containing it and rolling their vaccinations out Brazil is still setting new highs on a daily basis. Their vaccine approach seems to be quite slow as well. South America is an absolute mess.
Not sure about that. Yes numbers have stayed down but we are seeing France, Italy and parts of Europe commence a 3rd wave.
Definitely another up tick starting from this graph.
