COVID-19: Discussion of Impact 😷

I think the most frustrating thing is a lot of these new clusters have been due to people breaking the rules. If people had just continued to do the right thing they would have beaten it.

This is very good. Considering last week we saw the three cases that weren’t linked it could have been disastrous. So happy to see that the residents of NSW are continuing to do the right thing.

It again shows how good NSW has been at tracking down the source and close contacts. They should be proud of that.

Ditto

The Metro Melb 14 day average now sits at 10 so seems around ~12 new cases today with 1 of those in Regional. There appears to be a couple new unknown source cases.

London is currently at “medium” in the new alert system, but a spokesman for Mayor Sadiq Khan said it could potentially be upgraded to “high” later this week.

On Monday the UK recorded 13,972 new coronavirus cases, with 50 additional deaths, taking the official death toll to 42,875.

The three tiers are medium, high and very high.

NSW Health later said:

Two new locally acquired cases, publicly announced on Monday 12 October, are doctors who worked at the A2Z Medical Clinic and are linked to a previously reported case of unknown source. At this point, these cases have no known links to other clusters.

Another five new locally acquired cases today are members of the same household in South Western Sydney. They have now been identified as part of the ongoing investigation into four previously reported unlinked cases, including a nurse from St Vincent’s Hospital.

NSW Health can advise one of these new cases is a disability support worker who has worked at three small group homes in South Western Sydney.

Another one of these new cases attended the Great Beginnings Oran Park childcare centre on 1, 2, 8, and 9 October while infectious. The centre is closed today. Contact and investigations are underway.

NSW Health can also advise the five new cases provide a link between the previously four unlinked cases that include a nurse from St Vincent’s Hospital, and a previously reported cluster of five people in South Western Sydney linked with Liverpool Hospital.

This means 14 people reported between 8 October to today are now linked.

No many times in March.

QLD is doing well but its quite concerning they are still finding it in wastewater but not finding the cases. You just hope it doesn’t turn into an outbreak in a months time.

I think the relaxing of restrictions in NSW as long as businesses who want to adopt the relaxed restrictions needing to use a QR code sign-in system is a great idea.

edited: connected to the chadstone outbreak. so thats now shepparton and kilmore whos now conncted

Metro Melb 14 day average has dropped to 9.6 so looks like a low single digit case day.

Regional is now 0.6 with ~2 new cases, which would be those Shepparton cases linked to Chadstone.

1 new case of unknown source however 4 will drop out in the next few days.

So 5 cases in Metro Melb.

There would have to be historical deaths here. 5 is too big given the number of patients in hospital.
