COVID-19: Discussion of Impact 😷

Well, it goes to show that so far, it can never truly be eliminated.

NZ obviously still had it lurking for the last 100 days somewhere, undetected.

Still hard to believe that it’s resurfaced after all this time.

Unless it has come from hotel quarantine. Perhaps a few tests weren’t accurate when they were in quarantine. Or perhaps they will become false positives like so many have here in Australia as well.

They still have people entering the country. Could be a new arrival or this person contracted it from an asymptomatic new arrival.

I believe there are 22 active cases in New Zealand currently in hotel quarantine. It maybe traced back through this somehow.

I guess that’s the only other possibility.

As 14 days hotel quarantine SHOULD be enough to prevent them being infectious after leaving the hotel.

Can only assume they’ve somehow come in contact with eg hotel worker whilst there and it’s been passed on that way or something like that.

Again… this bloody virus somehow finds away through the cracks.

Hopefully not for too much longer… reports are that a vaccine might be ready at the end of the year.

Even if that happens, it will take a while for enough people to be vaccinated for it to die out.

Good. Gimme gimme gimme.

Sick of this shit.

Reports are coming through that Russia has approved the worlds first vaccine. Anyone keen to try and take one for the team?

(that’s “Not from Russia!” in Russian!).

In the press conference they said there were no obvious links to overseas travel.

Panic buying has returned across the ditch

What…?

It’s 3 days initially (from 12pm Wednesday) and it may go longer, depending on what contacts, or what little contacts they find. Greater lockdowns may follow.

Not universally.

Rushing to the Supermarkets probably has more to do with people going to the shops to get food on a whim, rather than planning their week/menu ahead. Seems to be the modern way with the youths, eh?

Another 410 cases have been recorded in Victoria in the past 24 hours.

The daily number is up a bit (the media will have a field day with this) but the fact is there’s usually a spike on Wed or Thurs as they clear backlogs of tests so the good thing is that’s 350 cases lower than the spike we had last week. If that’s as bad a day as we are getting it’s a big improvement week on week. The weekly trend is still much lower this week to last. I think on Friday we will start seeing the impacts of stage 4.

Sad about the death toll.
