COVID-19: Discussion of Impact 😷

Someone put some definitions about what under investigation means. The ABC reports it means:

Under investigation cases are ones that have come in late in the reporting period and are yet to be classified into another category.

It’s spreading and the local lockdowns aren’t working .
There is far too much movement in and out of these postcodes. This situation is far worse than April. Melbourne needs to revert to a stage 3 lockdown now. It’s the only way to push down numbers. 191 new cases is not acceptable and the government knows this.

We don’t really know that though. We won’t really know if the local lockdowns are working or not until next week.

I do agree it is clear they need to do that to stop the spread in other areas as well.

The ring fencing of these suburbs will only work if theres a complete lockdown of these postcodes. At the moment there are people still coming and going in these suburbs through work etc.

Health experts have stated that ring fencing only works if people are not allowed in or out. It’s also proving too difficult for authorities to Police these postcodes. The numbers are also increasing in adjacent neighbouring suburbs.

Family of four holidaying in Port Fairy confirm positive coronavirus tests, return home

A family of four who tested positive to coronavirus holidayed in Port Fairy last week.

Moyne Shire Mayor Daniel Meade said council was assisting the accommodation business where the family stayed.

ā€œCouncil is aware that a family of four who visited Port Fairy for three days last week, have returned home where they have tested positive for COVID-19,ā€ he said.

"The family did the right thing, cutting their holiday short after being told a close family member in Melbourne had a confirmed case of the virus. They immediately returned to their home, which is not a hotspot suburb, and got tested.

"All four members of the family, two adults and two children, were asymptomatic while in Port Fairy. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has advised that as they were not showing any symptoms, the risk of community transmission is low.

ā€œFurther details of where the family visited while in Port Fairy are not yet known and will be part of the DHHS investigation and contact tracing.ā€ source the courier ballarat

I’ve been told it will probably happen at 3-4PM.

Probably a lot of plans need to be put in place before he speaks.

The Federal Govt has granted a request from WA toi cap the number of flights so they can manage the quarantine better. Arrivals will be capped at 550 per week.

Trying to get such a large area locked down again will be a challenge. People are too comfortable. Cutting off Geelong/Bendigo etc might get some fired up.

Do you mean Shire of Mitchell? It is located just north of City of Hume (which currently has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases) and covers towns like Wallan, Kilmore, Broadford and Seymour.

With all this investigation how is the app going? Has it been working and have people been notified because of the tracing app?

Journalists now briefed Presser within the next 60mins

Was told Mitcham. Perhaps they mean Whitehorse in which Mitcham is a suburb?

Guess we’ll know within the hour.
