Yes without the extension the government couldnât enforce fines for works that force employees to go to work. It is actually a pity the government couldnât just trust businesses though.
you meant couldnt?
I do.
some bussiness cant be trusted and thats the thing
You arenât really giving them the chance though. I worry this is just a way to generate more revenue.
Employers group VECCI has pledged to collaborate with the Victorian Government to find a way for people to return to office to work. Shouldnât the government accept the offer?
not all employers are members of vecci though. i know one company in partiuclar who i wouldnt trust to complay with the working from home orders
I think they need to try and figure out how they are going to make public transport less crowded. I have tried getting on a train at South Yarra before at 8:30 am and I couldnât even get on. So you wouldnât want the public using public transport at the moment if that could potentially happen. I personally donât mind walking to work from my house. It might take just over an hour but I do enjoy it, as long as its not raining too heavily.
Yeah I have seen it but still not allowed to go to work so pointless travelling back as I pointed out above.
What exactly does vecci have to offer?
Possible solutions include staggered working times and more trains outside of peak times (e.g 9-10am and 6-8pm).
I would like to think this is what they are working on and why they are extending the state of emergency.
Personally I would love to work at nights. Start at 2pm finish at 10pm.
Unless they can resolve the issue around public transport and ensure that adequate protections for staff are in place what else can they do?
Is this practical?
A friend of mine is working in the office (because they want to) however has a full WFH set up and has done since day 1. This is why the govt need the SOE. People are still doing the wrong things against advice.
Where are the gardens that the Vic press conferences are held?
Usually Treasury Gardens, south of Parliament House on Spring Street. Sometimes, the gardens at the rear of Parliament House may also be used.
