COVID-19: Canberra Re-Opens

There is no reason ACT can’t get to 99%. Apparently the issue is with the 16-24 age group. But they said its likely those people aren’t even in the state at the moment. So it could be possible that that figure will get even higher once they return.

A higher educated demographic also helps this factor. Well done Canberra.

Wednesday 13 October -
51 new cases. Of these, 13 cases were in quarantine during their whole infectious period and 22 have been assessed as presenting a risk of transmission to others.
32 of those are linked to known cases or ongoing clusters, 19 of whom are household contacts.
98.5% of ACT’s eligible population have received first dose, 73.5% have received second dose.

46 cases today with 30 linked. One death sadly.

The Victorian Government will downgrade the ACT from red zone to orange zone from midnight tonight, to coincide with the end of the territory’s lockdown. It means that Victorians who have been in the ACT over the past 14 days can get a permit at Service Victoria and return home, but they have to isolate upon arrival, get tested for COVID-19 within 72 hours of arriving and isolate until they receive a negative result.

The more I think about it, is there any reason for the ACT to continue to be shutdown for the rest of the month when they’ve almost first dose vaccinated the entire territory and are incredibly close to 80% second dose?

I thought they were coming out of lockdown on Thursday.

Oh ok, my bad, I just assumed it would be the end of the month because that’s when Jennifer Bechwati, 7NEWS reporter from the tweet above, said schools and businesses will reopen.

It doesn’t make sense. If they are out of lockdown today but businesses aren’t opening til next month where are they allowed to go? Doesn’t sound like lockdown ending to me.

Its a staged process (like NSW)

But if no businesses are open, where is there to go? They already could go outside so it isn’t that.

Here is the roadmpa if it helps

and education:

It is staged. But we have to remember we are only 2 weeks from November.
