“Garden leave”? As in, he’s going to a competitor?

It’d be interesting if SRN poached him AND Graham Miles… doubt it. Obviously SCA.

From today’s AFR (paywalled):

Here we go, we are flailing so it’s everyone else’s fault. Pure rubbish, Australia needs to really careful as they are standing on the edge of a cliff where everything is pumped out from one station to every other station around the country. And it will happen very quickly.

Amen brother/sister/whatever you identify as.

Get fucked ARN. You just want somewhere for that fat gronk Kyle to go.

Admittedly, Kyle would make a decent talkback shock jock, only because he’s got that “I’m better than you, I have a penis the size of a small mushroom, everyone must listen to my opinion” style of broadcast. The moment the guess who’s pissing in the toilet schtick stops, he could move across to a 2GB or 3AW and fit in fairly nicely.

But just because you could, doesn’t mean you should. And I don’t encourage it in any way.

It was Hamish McLennan! The guy that failed at two broadcast networks and now a radio network. Dude is just no good, it’s not the regulators fault.

She replaces Andrew Nye, who resigned in October last year and is currently on six months gardening leave.

Mumbrella adds:

Angela Ewers, chief people officer, will expand her responsibilities to include oversight of the technology and project delivery teams alongside the people and culture team.

As part of the restructure, the chief commercial officer role, held by Pete Whitehead, will no longer exist – Whithead will remain in the business until Michael Stephenson assumes the COO role on March 20. Fayad Tohme, chief digital and technology officer will also leave the company (at the end of January).

ARN’s new operating model takes effect on February 1, 2025.

Wasn’t this announced in late 2024 about Duncan being shifted into a consulting role?

Why is this “breaking” today?

He’s leaving the company. Previously he was just stepping back but staying with ARN. Now he’s going to be an outside consultant.

Right. So between late 2024 until now, Duncan was consulting for ARN. Now, from Feb 1, Duncan will just be any ordinary radio consultant - completely apart from ARN?

If he’s going as an outside consultant, he could still work with ARN, but on a freelance basis. Just send in the bill when done.

What we heard in late 2024 was just rumour. The SMH published and article quoting insiders.

Today is the official announcement. There doesn’t appear to be a lot of detail about what Duncan will be doing yet. There’s reference to him assisting with the transition, so I’m unclear if the consultancy role is ongoing or just for a short period.
