The GF edition of Marngrook Footy Show will air on Channel 31 and Facebook Live at 7.30pm AEST tonight. It will be hosted by Grant Hansen and Warwick Capper, with Leila Gurruwiwi, Doug Hawkins, former Demons player Jay Kennedy Harris and former Richmond player Phil Egan (author of original external review commissioned by Hawthorn).

Ugh. For years her government tried to take community TV off the air. Now sheā€™s taking credit because that government only caved in to keep it on air (for only 3 years, btw) after years of fierce campaigning. The absolute state of it.

Sheā€™s an awful human being. Labor is the one that kept it on air.

Both parties have treated the sector badly. Labor didnā€™t do community TV many favours, either, when it was in government last time around.

Still remember the shitfight over digital spectrum access like it was yesterday. Totally inefficient allocating a whole channel to the CTV stations will restricting them from any form of multicasting (let alone HD!).

Yeah it makes no sense, they only need one SD channel.

The Darwin HPON (though Iā€™m not sure it still exists) had multiple channels, so the CTV channels should be allowed to do more than just one. They could e.g. have their regular 44 channel but have a 2nd channel for educational programs, or something like that. Even do a fishcam channel as that was supposedly popular back in the day. Though i suppose now they have CTV+ the opportunity may exist to add secondary channels there eventually.

CTV would be better suited to get a smart TV App out there. The CTV+ App they have at moment only works on smart phones. Forget being on RF spectrum and wasting a whole mux on a single SD stream, let alone secondary multi-channels. With an App on all devices, they can send out multiple streams to their hearts content with no restrictions other than rights licensing.

Couldnā€™t agree more. Something collaborative with 44 Adelaide and try to push it as a nationally available community TV service. They produce so much Australian content. Having it all in one place on smart TVā€™s would be great.

Believe one is in the pipeline for 2023.

Could put Aurora on FTA?

Including all of itā€™s 30 minute advertorials?
Am amazed it is still running to be honest.

Well you could replace those with content from 31/44.

And replace the money?

Yes, with the funding that 31/44 gets plus they are more likely to sell airtime and advertising if they have a national free to air audience.

And where would Aurora get FTA spectrum from without having to pay an existing FTA broadcaster for a multichannel slot? Not going to happen.

ā€¦what funding? CTV is self funded through sponsorship sales and fee-for-service
