Grant Hansen has told Herald Sun that he would reboot Marngrook Footy Show for this yearâs AFL Grand Final, three years after the show was axed by NITV and replaced by Yokayi Footy. Hansen said he and Leila Gurruwiwi would host the grand final edition, and has invited Marngrook regulars Doug Hawkins, Abbey Holmes, Phil Krakouer and Warwick Capper to appear.
It would screen on Channel 31 and Facebook Live in late September.

Seven and Nine are mainly focused on marking sure their talent donât appear on the other network.

SAFC and Channel 44 to launch First Nations TV Pilot Initiative
A new First Nations led program from Channel 44 and the SAFC, with funding from Screenrights and Screen Australia, will help emerging South Australian First Nations filmmakers to develop and grow their skills in television production.
The Channel 44 and SAFC âTV Pilot Initiativeâ is one of five projects announced today as being supported by the 2022 round of Screenrightsâ annual Cultural Fund, receiving $34,000 in funding. The project is also being supported by Screen Australiaâs First Nations Department, with $30,000 in funding.
The exciting new program will feature some of Australiaâs most experienced First Nations TV practitioners providing mentoring and masterclasses for 20 to 30 emerging South Australian First Nations participant filmmakers, helping them to grow their skills in developing collaborative writing skills with the aim of creating sustainable careers.
SAFCâs First Nations Screen Strategy Executive Pauline Clague said: âOur emerging sector wanted to grow their skills further into the industry. This initiative will help to lift the voices of South Australian First Nations into writing not just one-offs, but look at the potential of the stories that are in the community and culminating in working together in a writersâ room with experts from the First Nations sector giving insights into how to write for TV. We know that this initiative will benefit our sector and give our First Nations sector a boost to learn from some of our leading Indigenous voices in TV. The work that (former SAFC First Nations Industry Executive) Nara Wilson and Channel 44 have done in interning our sector into production roles over the last few years at Channel 44 gives us a strategy to hopefully roll one of these projects out into production in the coming years.â
General Manager of Channel 44 Adelaide Lauren Hillman said: âAfter the success of the recent First Nations led production of Mob Talks (to be released later in 2022) Channel 44 are thrilled to be able to deliver this new First Nations initiative alongside our partnership with the South Australian Film Corporationâs First Nations Screen Strategy. This exciting initiative will see some of Australiaâs most experienced First Nations TV practitioners provide mentoring and masterclasses to elevate emerging SA First Nations screen creators and provide future pathways for ongoing industry employment.â
Screen Australiaâs Head of First Nations Angela Bates said: âThis initiative is a fantastic opportunity for emerging creators to kickstart their careers in television and advance their skills, learning from a range of incredibly talented and experienced screen storytellers. We are proud to support this program as part of our commitment to nurturing the next generation of First Nations creatives and helping them bring their perspectives to life on screen.â
Screenrights Board Director and Cultural Fund Working Group Chair Geoffrey Atherden said: âThis yearâs New Opportunities focus inspired many fantastic applications, which made a tough job for our assessors. The five funded initiatives showcase a diverse range of project aims and will benefit a variety of participants. Weâre excited to see the outcomes of these initiatives, and know that they will help break down barriers for under-represented storytellers to the benefit of our screen industry and audiences.â

C31 did have its own app several years ago, it was decommissioned because the company hosting their app and websites was taken over by another company that didnât want anything to do with C31. It was chromecast compatible and worked perfectly. This was at a time when C31 was threatened with closure by the Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison Government.
The CTV + app is available exclusively on Apple, it is not available on Android.
Does the new App carry the live streams?
I feel that by doing this, the company showed apathy towards community TV.

Had a quick look yesterday. Couldnât see a guide? That would be handy. Also when I looked, the C44 stream had no sound 
ATV app would be good too.
They really need to make an effort for a smart TV App.
Otherwise, the very slow progress so far makes me think they are still thinking terrestrial is their main game when the rest of the FTA broadcasters are moving heavily to on-line. The way it is going, the other networks will fully transition to on-line before what is left of the community TV sector does.

I couldnât agree more. Everyone is watching TV using made-for-TV apps. They need to forget mobile and pour whatever resources they have into getting in alongside Netflix/7plus/9Now/etc on TVs.
