The telecast stopped at the end of 2019, for what reason I don’t remember.
I also remember there was a two-week pause in February 2018 because of the Olympics rights (which Seven had the broadcasting rights to at the time).

Light still does simulcast Nine News
I think thats when Hope News launched.
I wish they’d keep simulcasting the news. The reason it likely stopped is because you’d need someone to panel live at that time.
2OOO 98.5 Sydney is now back on air, after about a month with no FM signal.
It was Seven News, would’ve been around 2012.
Not if you automate off the same feed as the affiliates do, they just get SMPTE signals or can even use a carrier tone on another audio channel to trigger an automation to trigger the local playlist when the tone dies out or vice versa
So what are they going to replace it with? Air News? Nine News? No news?
Believe Vision News is still going, have heard that on a few Christian community stations around the traps.
Nine News.
Rhema 105.1 Fraser Coast is putting out a good signal this morning but they are broadcasting static.
Pulse 89.9 in Sydney has been open carrier since at least yesterday.
Well at least the transmitter hasn’t died; there’s still a Pulse. No CPR required.
Another one that’s often open carrier is 2RPH Wollongong 93.3. It’s dead air right now, as received on my South/West TEF servers.
Edit: There sound for one second, then it went back to open carrier again.
Rogue cockatoos have nearly knocked a Port Douglas radio station clean off the air, by adding the FM antenna to their lunchmenu.
Douglas FM came within a whisker of a full broadcast blackout when the birds set upon its hardware, nibbling through thekit that keeps the station on the air.
The full-scale feathered assault left critical equipment compenents exposed to the elements.
Paywall free version - no photos sadly…
$12,000 to fix it though!

2BBB Bellingen’s 93.3FM translator at Dorrigo may be taken off the air soon due to having to vacate the site. Not sure why, and I’m not involved with the station anymore so I can’t provide any other details other than this social media post. Either way, the station has had a presence from all the way up there since the mid 1980s and it would be a shame to see it disappear as it is a superior transmitting site.
That’s a real shame, hopefully they can find a suitable alternate site as you’re right, the 93.3 signal gets out far better than 107.3 does. Hopefully that doesn’t impact the stations viability either.
I suppose getting on the Moombil tower is not going to be a possibility.
money. its all about money and cross promotion. when i was a producer at 96.5 i would bring this up all the time in all hands meetings as a thing that was so different to the rest of the schedule. you’d go out of the latest Christian pop song, a quick warning and “3 people are dead after a collision on the Bruce highway…” yet they were promoting themselves a s family friendly and safe for little ears..
“3 people have met God today after a collision on the Bruce Highway”. ![]()
