Just for that I hope you get soaked hehe .
Yes. I got a two day pass as soon as they were on sale.
A tad harsh. ![]()
BOM has 11c for Toowoomba on Saturday that is colder than Melbourne !
Yeppoon is going for 15c MAX on Friday coldest in 29 years if that happens ! Normal average is 22c in August .
From one extreme to the other as 26c is an October temperature
26C to 15C is common further south in the warmer months but yes, pretty wild for ultra stable, mild tropical Yeppoon.
I say âmild tropicalâ in comparison to places like Darwin and Weipa, which donât really get cool weather at all during the year.
Is there a term for locations right on the tropics, like Yeppoon is on the Tropic of Capricorn? âJust tropicalâ maybe? ![]()
I think technically the subtropical climate extends to about Mackay/Airlie Beach so Yeppoon is actually technically subtropical, but certainly feels tropical most of the year. North of about Proserpine the daily maximum temp doesnât fall below 25C in any month; this is probably where the true tropical climates start and youâre comfortable at the beach even in mid winter. The technical definition is a mean temp 18C or more in all months; Yeppoon and Rocky are below that as is Mackay (just).
Hamilton Island does get its fair share of maxima below 20C in the cooler months (Iâve seen as low as 15 there in a rainy southerly).
The Klyuchevskoy volcano on the Kamchatka peninsula in Russiaâs far east has started erupting after this morningâs earthquake.
I think you can refer to it as where the tropics begin on the coast ? Or southern tropics ?
Only 15.5 deg now so might reach 16c.
Itâs warmer than that in Brisbane right now.. 18.6 .. unusual!
This house was built in 2007 and it is 18c inside so meets the WHO standard ⊠canât say it is colder inside than out .
Oh FFS.
11.2 deg in Hobart
11.7 deg in Sydney
13.5 deg in Yeppoon
13.7 deg in Mackay currently !
The Bom Meteye has 14 deg at 9am tomorrow for Yeppoon so assuming it doesnât warm up much this temp might hold unlike other times when the next day the 9am reset stuffs it up.
Snowing its guts out at Armidale/Guyra today. Man I wish I was up there.
The cold pool is centred over far northern NSW/S QLD, hence the colder temps up there relative to the southern parts of the country. Down here we are just getting a mild SEâly flow and showers, with plenty of rain on the coast. It was drizzling even at Perisher this morning going by the cam.
Currently 0.1 degree Celsius at Armidale right now (1pm)! Crazy!
In July 1984 there was a huge snowfall up there and Armidale didnât get above -1 or so the whole day. But rare to see nowadays.
Rain has caused a cliff collapse onto a walkway at Bronte Beach.
