Looks like Alfred has stalled and is now not expected to cross until late Friday or even Saturday. This might decrease the wind a bit but is likely to prolong the risk of heavy rainfall.
Stalling weather systems are now very common in this new era, prolonging rain events as well as heatwaves.
I feel like (and this might be me) most people are as prepped as they are - stocked up and ready to bunker down. And yes, weâre all at the mercy of it - so there will be damage anyway, thatâs a fact, so it would be nice to have it happen sooner, reducing rainfall and flooding, rather than it lingering for longer and MORE rain falls.
Happy to be corrected if Iâm misunderstanding anything however
The latest tracking data from the Bureau of Meteorology, released just before 11pm, showed Alfred would make landfall near Redcliffe, slightly further north than previously indicated.
The modelling had Alfred moving through the City of Moreton Bay in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The modelling also showed Alfred had spun back around to the east for the second time.
Iâd just like to take this opportunity now before the next stage of the cyclone commences to wish everyone in the predicted affected regions and whatever regions ends up being affected, the best of luck, well wishes and safety for all members and their friends and families.
Try and stay in touch if possible but if not we shall see everyone on the other side.
Itâs smooshling Redlands⌠my neighbours power has gone.
Alfred better not touch my power, I need to see Paul Burt in cyclonic conditions on Sunrise.
