What an afternoon line-up of stars on O - Phillip Brady, Mike Walsh and Tommy Hanlon Jr.

I wonder what is meant by National Nine News- Home Edition. Is that title supposed to appeal to the housewives?

Strange to see a variety show airing at 6.30pm.

Possibly. I vaguely recall that the afternoon Herald newspaper in Melbourne also used to publish an early edition labelled “Home”, possibly also for the housewives?

I guess a novel way to try and break the stranglehold of the 6.30 news elsewhere. Later in the year Ernie did a week of shows live from Hong Kong, and then from New Zealand. Would have been quite a technical feat in those days. But the show didn’t last to see 1977 in its 6.30 format (Blankety Blanks took over the 7.00 half-hour). I vaguely recall it was revamped to a more traditional 8.30 or 9.30 timeslot in 1977, before Ernie Sigley went to Channel 7 in 1978 to take over as host of Penthouse Club.

and Bernard King being vile to Pot Of Gold contestants

I actually loved Bernard King’s brutally honest assessment of the no talent fools they used to get on Pot Of Gold. I’m hoping we see Manu channel a little bit of Bernard on AGT when it starts in a few weeks.

Nine was showing an Aussie Rules competition in 1976 (NFL Wills Cup, the first Night Series involving teams from VFL, SANFL and WAFL).

I notice a 5-minute program This week in Britain at 6.55pm on the ABC. I assume this was news headlines from the UK, which some regional ABC stations opted out of for their local news summary?

The highlight of the show.

TEN 10 was showing rugby league on Wednesday nights in the 1970s so this didn’t get a run in Sydney until Summer non ratings.

Some 0-10 network programs (The Mike Walsh Show, Casino 10) appearing on ADS7 which indicates that relations between SAS10 and its eastern states partners was not all good

Wasn’t Casino 10 a daytime game show in the eastern states? Interesting that SAS is showing it in prime time.

I think it was also a prime time show in Brisbane, where it was made.

EDIT: It also had a stint at 7.00pm in Melbourne but given that this was in November, it might have only been in that timeslot as a summer replacement
