A week before the Montreal Olympic Games, GTV9 has film highlights of the Winter Olympics held in February. (The reason for the upside down Olympic logo is unclear)

I’m guessing it might be because the publisher of TV Week probably did not have the rights to use the Olympic Rings proper. My understanding is the IOC really plays hardball and does not like organisations using the Olympic Rings if they haven’t paid for the rights to use it. Which will explain why on shows like The Simpsons when they lampoon the Olympics, the rings are shown upside down.

Did they really need to list them all out on screen, or was just that just showing off?

In the VFL, round 16 was split across two weekends, Tony Lockett kicked 8 for the Saints. Sounds like Tim Lane didn’t make the trip, Drew Morphett takes his place on the call. Note the TVO signage at the (very different) Cararra ground, they held local Brisbane rights in 1987.

GMA still a few months away…

But there had been the Sydney-Melbourne Today shows in the 60s and 70s up until about 1974.

So weird they still did test patterns in 1980, surely they could have aired something in those slots?

Even in the 90’s they were still showing test patterns.

Late night League replay on 10 wpuld have been Manly’s 32-2 romp against Canterbury, a result that would have pleased commentator Rex Mossop who would undoubtedly have cheered every Manly try in his call.

The F1 on 9 was actually held at Silverstone and not Brands which F1 had outgrown. Mansell won the race so the locals wpuld have gone potty.

Play School on the ABC from 9.30am to 1.00pm.

Na. It’s “For schools” and Play School is on in between. It’s confusing to read but I’ve seen it like this before.

This test cricket match is the ashes match and it is from the WACA Ground Perth. Correct me if I’m wrong but on that’s day was it a day 3 in the 3rd Ashes Test?
