I wonder why NBN3 was included in the Southern NSW edition of TV Week? Also, WIN4 and CTC7 for some reason also appeared in the Northern NSW edition of the same publication.

Only one news program on, in the morning. Sunrise didn’t return until 2001 I think.

As a early edition. They had AMV for a while.

Sadly, The Big Breakfast was no match for Pokemon and Dragonball Z on Ten.

This was Labour Day in Victoria that day, Moomba Masters water skiing was on Seven, but no telecast of the Moomba Parade on any network. I know Seven began telecasting the parade again in 2010. When did Seven stop showing the Moomba Masters? Also noted Seven had an AFL match highlights show that day, the AFL started the 2000 season a few weeks early due to the Sydney Olympics.

Carlton vs Brisbane and Collingwood vs Hawthorn were the matches. Ridiculously hot day.

HSV7 hasn’t covered the water skiing senc the early 2000s. This could have been the last year.

I was in the parade a few years in the mid 1990s, wasn’t televised then. I remember in the 80s it was on at least two channels, possibly three (including ABC).

Would you believe that in 1989 it was covered by all 5 networks
 including SBS

Didn’t know David Brown had been weatherman on Ten.

It’s at Ten where David earned his nickname “Stretch” I think.

I miss that style of TV Week’s seven day TV guide.

The Melbourne TV Guide for Friday 15 July 2005, taken from TV Week.

Back in 2005, Australia had 5 free-to-air primary channels + one multichannel (ABC2). The Rugby League between Penrith Panthers v Bulldogs was shown on more than 8 hour delay in Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. The AFL match was shown on 1-3 hour delayed telecast in Southern States while in the northern states they had to wait for more than 5 hours! Since the introduction of multichannels and new AFL & NRL broadcasting deal, they promised live coverage on FTA!

Must’ve been school holidays time with the kids programs on ABC-TV until midday.

The synopsis for Better Homes & Gardens wouldn’t look out of place in a current/recent TV guide!

The SBS World News channel was also on Digital TV back then.

Seven, Nine (in Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane) and Ten also had the “Video Program Guide” channels on Digital TV in metropolitan markets while (at least some) Sydneysiders with Digital TV would’ve had access to the D44 Datacast Trial services. Although I doubt too many people would’ve watched those services on a regular basis! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

In any case, it’s quite fair to say that sports coverage of the two major football codes in the minority states has improved for the better since the introduction of digital multichannels.

Usually the wait was until 11PM or even 11:30 for Friday Night footy in Qld (had to sit through an hour of Nightline with Ellen Fanning), and when The Open (not the British Open, it’s The Open) or Wimbledon was on it was even later. The Lions didn’t get a regular season FNF game during that period (they did have a mortgage on Easter Thursday Night), the Swans got one FNF regular season game on ANZAC Day 2004 when 9 covered the afternoon Essendon vs Collingwood match and 10 actually covered their home game vs Melbourne (Lions had 1 Friday Night Final, Swans had a couple, all were on 10).

I remembered channel 9 Perth had a few West Coast and fremantle Games that was shown at Friday 7:30pm rather than the 8:30pm in 2005-06. This was to boost exposure. In 2007, Channel 7 returned to telecasting Friday night football. I looked on the guide and Perth viewers had to suffer a 3-hour delay telecast because of better homes and gardens. At 8:30pm when the game telecast starts on tv I noticed that the match had been finished. I hated staying up late watching footy so I went to sleep instead
