ABC Kids/Fly TV ceased broadcasting (June 30) before the time of that July 2003 TV guide if I’m not mistaken, so the SBS World News Channel would’ve been the only extra channel on Digital TV apart from possibly any datacast/VPG services that were running at the time.

I’ve done a little bit of research since my original question and have managed to find a TV guide for Melbourne and Tasmania on Sunday 10th October 2004, which was a time in 2004 when daylight saving was operating in Tasmania only.

It’s quite interesting to compare.
For example:
ABC Tasmania showed all programming one hour late during the day, but continued to show the normal schedule during primetime.

There’s no resemblance between Seven Melbourne and SCTV Tasmania at all on this day, as SCTV was taking Ten’s feed of the V8 Supercars all day, and then later showed the live feed of Australian Idol from Ten at 8pm AEDT.

As others have said, TDT Tas is just a complete one hour late schedule of Ten Melbourne.

Also, WIN Tasmania is also a complete copy of Nine Melbourne, shown one hour late, except for the 8:30 movie, which airs at the right time, bumping 60 Minutes back to 10:50 in Tasmania.

Here’s another comparison I’ve found.

Monday 8th October 2007.

I could only find listings starting at 12 noon, but you get the picture.

By 2007, ABC’s schedule appears to air at the correct time in Tasmania, meaning they would have seen the ABC programs first.
SCTV Tasmania still has some Ten programs mixed in, but is showing some Seven programming on time.
TDT continues to be one hour late.
WIN airs most of Nine’s programming at the correct time, although has A Current Affair slotted in at 10:30pm, as it wouldn’t have been available for the 6:30pm timeslot.
SBS continues as a one hour late screening.

TV Week’s listing for 3 September 1988 for Brisbane. The last Saturday for TV0 as the following Saturday the channel changes over to Brisbane Ten.

And the Brisbane edition of TV Week also features NRTV (RTN8) on account of UHF translators on the Gold Coast.

With aggregation 3 years away there’s still a mix of all 3 networks represented on NRTV but with some ownership ties to the Ten Network via Northern Star Holdings there is already some preference to Network Ten programs. Neighbours is on at 7pm when most other regional stations would have had Sale Of The Century or ACA at 7.00. Richmond Hill, Page One, Good Morning Australia and the 10.30am Eyewitness News also on NRTV when most other regionals would have likely gone with the (more popular) Nine Network equivalents.

But there’s still a fair amount from both Seven and Nine: A Country Practice, Beyond 2000, 60 Minutes, Midday, Days Of Our Lives, Young And The Restless, Sunday, Saturday Morning Live and KTV.

But given the half-hour ‘national’ news at 6.30 I would guess this is still coming from Seven in Sydney? (EDIT: It’s coming from Nine in Sydney as per TV Cynic’s post below)

…yet on the weekend it was airing eyewitness news from Ten? Eclectic mix.

I hadn’t noticed that… bizarre…

On aussiebeachut0’s YouTube channel, there’s this clip from March 1989 with National Nine News Sydney being shown (on a half hour delay at 6.30pm) after the local NRTV News (interestingly with Ten’s version of their late 80’s “Turn To…” news theme on the closer!) at 6pm:

Perhaps TV Cynic might remember more about what NRTV was doing with news back then (I presume that at some point, NRTV changed it’s “national” 6.30pm bulletin from Seven to Nine), but it seems that NRTV might’ve been carrying National Nine News from Sydney on weekdays with Ten’s Eyewitness News being shown on weekends (at least that week) during the Late '80s? If so, that’s a rather odd arrangement…

Nine Sydney News was at 6.30pm - you can see the changeover in this 1987 image with a hint of the 9 logo in the background before NNN starts.

Here’s a bit of a comparison of Imparja vs. it’s two metro affiliates back in the days when it was a dual Nine/Ten affiliate.

The Imparja listings I obtained are for Imparja in QLD, so are listed in AEST, however at this time Imparja was run entirely on ACST, with the exception of the Today show, which was shown live.

I remember watching this show as a kid but all I can recall was that it was a game show of some sort?

This was one of 0-10’s attempts to fill the gap left by The Mike Walsh Show going across to Nine. I believe it was only moderately successful but not successful enough to survive the axe later in the year when Ten in Sydney wanted to clear the studio space for a new soapie they had in the pipeline… Arcade.

02.00 Ready Steady Cook
03.00 Judge Judy

03.00 Ready Steady Cook
04.00 Holiday at Home
04.30 Huey’s Cooking Adventures
05.00 Scope
05.30 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Geez, these were the bad old days when Southern Cross used to “block” many shows including ‘The Bold & the Beautiful’ from TDT to air themselves at a later time/date. Most of the shows usually weeks later and at really shit times.

The 4.30pm slot had many different shows aired in it. Ones I can remember: ‘Heartbreak High’, ‘Breakers’, various children’s shows (TMNT, Spider-Man etc.) – This slot used to cause a lot of timing errors and the like for TDT in the earlier days with constant mistakes occurring. B&B used to even slip through at times.

Some shows I can remember SC “blocking” from TDT/Ten and airing repeated shows in place from these horrible periods:

The O.C - TDT aired ‘Law & Orders’ rpts. This usually aired a week later on SCTV.

Big Brother Uncut - TDT aired ‘Crash Burn’ rpts. This used to air after Saturday Night AFL broadcast (around 11pm or later) on SCTV.
Law & Orders - new episodes were removed and rpts aired in place.

Charmed - TDT aired various rtp shows in place like ‘Ed’. SCTV usually aired it the following week.

Saturday Afternoon AFL on Ten - TDT stayed with the Melbourne feed with filler shows delayed coverage. SCTV took live coverage along with Sydney etc.

Saturday Night AFL on Ten - TDT used to switch to the Sydney feed with filler shows and movies with delayed late coverage of the footy. During these interesting scenarios, TDT used to receive the ‘dirty feeds’ from Ten on Saturdays during the AFL season. SCTV took live coverage along with Melbourne etc.

AFL finals and GF - all matches were delayed on TDT regardless of whether Ten went live around the country like with the Grand Final itself. There used to be a 1-2 hour delay in these instances… such a mess I know!

These are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head but there many others. TDT was such a butchered channel in the early years thanks to Southern Cross with either removing shows or airing them live at the same time as TDT which made it totally pointless. :expressionless:

11.40 Girls of the Playboy Mansion
I used to hate the days when Tassie commenced DST weeks before the other states as the TV schedules were mostly all over the place. And in the case with WIN, you could always tell when they opted out of the metro feed with the time difference as their PQ deteriorated greatly and was barely watchable most nights. Thank god those days are over!:+1:

It changed each year how it was handled, TDT used to just run the entire schedule an hour behind. The first couple of years they had a thing stuck on the screen saying an hour later in Tasmania - ie, promo still said it would be 7:30 but we’d know in Tasmania it would be 8:30. Later years they didn’t even do that so all programming was an hour out and the promo times were an hour out.

WIN and Southern Cross used to have to adjust schedules, if we were behind in shows like Neighbours and Home and Away it was fine, they could still run at the standard time. Other shows were simply an hour late. Some years shows like Blue Heelers or All Saints were seen an hour before the mainland and other years they were delayed an hour.

Today and Sunrise used to have really bad looking clock cover ups stuck over the on screen clocks so at least they had the correct time.

Radio had similar issues with keeping up. It was a great day when the other states finally aligned their start date with Tasmania!
Yep. And in the case with TDT, they used to have a little clock pop up on the promo endtags advising of the 1hr difference and they also used to have short ad spots with the clock and a V/O too. SC and WIN obviously localise their promos unlike TDT so no such problem with them.

Again, so glad this doesn’t happen anymore!

This one used to always make me laugh.

The Simpsons was another favourite for filling in. I remember one night TDT had about 5 hours of Simpsons with only 1 program in the middle.

In the last year they didn’t even bother with this, there may have been an ad but there was nothing added to the promos.
