I know it’s kind of expected at this point, but thanks for continuing to update these threads and share your archived material. It’s always appreciated.

Note: On Seven, The last Hopman Cup Tennis Tournament (Before 2013) was shown before ABC gained the TV Rights for a further 15 years and Seven Nightly News Victoria for January 4 of 1994 would’ve been presented by Peter Mitchell (Jennifer Keyte was main weeknight presenter at the time). Over on Nine, was Today on hiatus due to Live Cricket Coverage at 7:50 AM for viewers in Western Australia? Also, it was not until nearly 2 years later that 10 would shift The Bold and Beautiful to it’s current timeslot of 4:30 PM and was this one of the very first Seinfeld episodes on 10 despite premiering on Nine a few months earlier?

Also, was ABC News Victoria presented by Ian Henderson that day and did Mal Walden and Jennifer Hansen really presented the same 10 (Eyewitness) News Victoria bulletin together before November of 1995 when David Johnston returned to Seven and Marie-Louise-Theile returned to Queensland?

I think Sky Channel had the best combo if you were on Transponder 8 - darts AND softcore porn. :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy:

Sydney probably had the Last Session Only Live as it was at the SCG, while the rest of Australia got the Whole days play.

they were most likely Ten’s newsreading line-up for summer.

Interesting that the Hopman Cup was only on metropolitan Seven during the day- Prime running alternative programs instead.

Not sure if the 10:30pm telecast would have been a replay of the day session or if there was a later session that was not covered live.

my guess is that there was an evening session, but I have nothing to verify that.

Also, how long did VIC TV close after aggregation?

i do not know, i’m afraid. I think Southern Cross was the first of the three commercial networks to go 24/7 in regional Victoria.

You’d think given VIC TV was the Nine affiliate, they’d go with whatever dross Nine was serving up after midnight. If WIN and NBN ended up doing it…

Why does this 1994 tv guide show Sky channel? At this point wouldn’t Sky channel only be available in pubs and clubs? If not, how were people getting Sky channel at home, way back in 1994?

Maybe they were buying TV Week?

Maybe so that people at home could plan their Sky Channel viewing. Otherwise how would they know in advance what shows or events were on?

ITQ8 probably couldn’t afford it, run off the smell of a oily rag.

i think a few of those remote regionals would have been in the same boat. I guess it eventually took the cricket authorities to settle on ABC having cricket coverage to regional areas, while Nine kept the capital cities.

It wasn’t until 1981-82 season when test cricket returned to ABC TV in regional areas, this was so that the regional commercial stations can show the Australian Open tennis (and other tennis tournaments) from Seven, which at that time was held in December. Before that, some regionals took cricket live and tennis as highlights, and others vice versa.

In Sydney for a few nights.

Went to the State Library this morning and saved a couple of TV listings.

This one was my favourite, from the “Daily Mirror”, 1 June 1987.

I assume regionals only listed from 4pm onwards as NBN-3 I’m sure was on from around 6am back then.

“Coffs HARBOR” spelt wrong too!
