I remember that episode of All Saints where Steph died vividly from the year 2000 i was 8 and it was my favourite show, (yes i was watching M rated shows at 8 sue me) i had the TV Week that covered it though lost it at some point

I remembered watching the first new episodes of How I Met your Mother and My Name is Earl on that night. These two new US heavyweight comedy shows helped Seven win the night.

The Poseidon Adventure, which aired on Ten to huge ratings earlier in the year, screening simultaneously on NRN/RTN, NEN/ECN and CTC.
NEN/ECN and NRN/RTN were part of the GET (Great Eastland Television) programming bloc, so it makes sense for them. Must be just a coincidence that CTC7 was showing it at the same night/time.

Quite an extensive sports load during night time on the Nine Network with an AFL match between Kangaroos v Essendon followed by Wimbledon Tennis. Unfortunately, theres not enough space to screen NRL at midnight. THerefore Channel 9 Perth screened the Rugby League match at 5:30am in the morning (which means a 12-hour delay).
This was vice versa for Sydney when they screened an NRL match between the Sea Eagles-Knights (at 7:30pm) followed by the Wimbledon Tennis. The AFL match had to be screened in the early morning the following day.
Over on SBS, they screened Quarter Finals of the FIFA World Cup.
Frasier at 10pm must have been short lived. But it was one of those shows that didnât catch on until the 7pm weeknight plays IIRC
They tried it in a bunch of slots including that one, did not hit the spot until that serendipitous run at 7pm one summer.
That was also the Introduction of the GST that came into effect from Saturday the 1st of July in 2000.
And we had the obligatory address to the nation by then PM John Howard telling us we had to embrace the new tax system.
This was during the Victorian school holidays that year. I was in Year 12, so it was my last winter school holiday period. A Bit of work, a bit of study and a bit of fun.
I remember watching Beauty and the Beast, at that time with the late Stan Zemanek as host, it was very funny to watch as he was rude as hell.
I suspect the same sort of PM address we* got on the eve of the switch to decimal currency.
(* i mean âweâ in the general sense, not me, as such, as I wasnât around then)

It was very ironic that Daryl Somers hosted a one-off Hey Hey show on the Nine Network.
I noticed that SBS broadcasted a FIFA World Cup Semi Final live at 2:30am and replayed at 5am in the next morning.
Ironic?
Whether its ironic or not his point being that this wasnât exactly a One-Off as Daryl has spent nearly 20 years shilling various attempts to revive Hey Hey
The only place âone offâ is mentioned is in Super SCâs post?

I noticed that Channel Nine Perth decided to air the State of Origin Rugby League at 2am (the following day) straight after the Wimbledon Tennis Coverage. In Regional WA, the State of Origin aired earlier at 9:30pm (albeit a 4-hour delay) with Wimbledon airing at 12am. I donât know why Nine Perth aired the Rugby League game at 2am.
Over at the SBS, they screened the Portugal v France Semi Final of the FIFA WOrld Cup live at 2:30am and replaying after the live game ended.
Because not in NSW or QLD so it ran outside of prime time. The tennis then pushed it out from midnight to 2am or later.
How would you categorize the television shows âHey Hey itâs 50 Years,â âHey Hey itâs 100 Years,â and the unsuccessful pilot attempt in 2007, which resulted in Daryl leaving Seven?
Daryl attempted to revive Hey Hey put failed in 2007. What happened to the HHIS pilot
IIRC it was produced but Seven executives at the time didnât like it so it wasnât taken further.
