Very odd. No idea why that was.

Odd how Nine wasted a 30 minute timeslot with 2x fillers in Nine Presents.

It is graveyard shift and it was likely paid for by Sony since they were usually the focus of those Nine Presents spots. If it wasn’t a Nine Presents it just would have been used for Home Shopping.

Also, the description for The OC is wrong as that episode takes place several months after Marissa’s death and not the morning after. Also, that season was fast-tracked here so we were getting it really only about a day or so after it aired in the US. This was around the time the networks “attempted” to “fast track” shows to Australia most likely done to combat the rise of piracy though Bit-Torrent.

Over on Nine, Bargain Hunt replaced repeats of The Brady Bunch in its 5pm timeslot.

That had already happened a few weeks earlier.

Seven broadcasted the Oaks Day Horse Racing Live. They have three presenters (Richard Freeman, Peter Donegan and Simon Marshall) in the mounting yard. International TV presenter Carson Kreesley even attended the Oaks Day in Melbourne.
The summer of cricket began with the First Test between Australia and Sri Lanka at the Gabba. Sri Lanka played two tests in November. They had separate hosts doing cricket coverage - Mark NIcholas (live coverage), while Simon O’Donnell did the Cricket Show.

Strange summer format this year with a Chappell Hadlee series in Australia and a one off 20 over game in Perth vs NZ squeezed between 2 tests vs Sri Lanka and 4 tests vs India prior to a February 50 over Tri-Series.

Channel 7 broadcasted the Melbourne Oaks Day. Even Sonia Kruger, Jennifer Hawkins and Matthew White joined the Oaks Day carnival. AFter the Melbourne CUp Oaks Day ended, Perth had Pre-school programming Raggs at 3:30pm. over on the east coast, the pre-school programming began straight after Sunrise.
I noticed that they had a Lucky $5 note competiiton on Temptation.

On SBS, I noticed that they had the SBS World News shown at an earlier time at 3:30PM in Perth. This was due to the FIFA World Cup Intercontinental Qualifier between Socceroos and Uruguay from Telstra Stadium, Sydney. Back then, Australia was in the Oceanic Football Confederation.
Over on ABC, they had coverage of the ATP Masters Cup with Fred Stolle as the caller. I’m not sure which city hosted the ATP Masters Cup, but they at least had full coverage of the tennis match.
On Channel 9 Perth, new episodes of The Price is Right was broadcasted at 5PM. I was a bit annoyed when Nine Perth pushed TPIR earlier. They went up against MAS*H repeat (Seven) and TEN News and children’s show Rollercoaster on the ABC. TMK, The quiz show languished in 4th spot during its 5pm timeslot.

Wonderful World of Disney on Ten, while other Disney shows such as Home Improvement, Saturday Disney, the movie The Piano, the Golden Girls etc. remained on Seven. Why didn’t Ten chase these shows as well?

Nine/WIN broadcasted the First Test between Australia and NZ at the Gabba, Brisbane. THe summer of cricket 2004-05 began with two Tests and 3 ODIs against New Zealand, Three Test matches against Pakistan (WACA, MCG, SCG) and an ODI Tri-Series with the West Indies and Pakistan. To my knowledge, Mark Nicholas first joined the Nine’s Cricket Coverage as host, though Simon O’Donnell still hosted the cricket show.
In WIN Territory, I noticed that they broadcasted Ten’s pre-school program, In the Box instead of new episodes of HI5. Remarkably, it was quite a full TEN lineup during the 3PM-7pm block.
Over on TEN, they stopped broadcasting midday movies and instead showed other dramas instead.
ABC showed new eps of Strictly Dancing while Seven showed Strictly Ballroom, which was quite interesting.

Yep, This would have been his first summer as host of Cricket coverage for 9 a position he would hold until Nine lost the rights at the end of the 2016/2017 summer.

I’m not sure exactly when Simon O’Donnel left the Cricket coverage I think it may have been at some point in the early 2010s
