WIN showed the State of Origin at 9:30pm, while Nine Perth showed the State of Origin at 10:30pm. To make matters worse, some Perth NRL fans had to suffer through delayed telecast of the State of Origin. This had a big effect on ratings in the west.
Temptation wasn’t shown on WIN but had Big Brother at 7pm, followed by two repeats of The SImpsons. This caused a backlash for Regional WA viewers as people miss out on watching that game show.
That listing shows off the brief time that Seven aired AFL Wrap in a late night slot, which I believe was produced by Seven for ESPN/ESPN2 in the US as a one hour weekly highlights package.
I remember coming across it a couple times as a sleepless kid and wondering what the deal with it was, particularly as unusual phrasing (referring to the teams by their full names, and reading out the type of score - e.g Geelong Cats, 5 goals, 2 behinds for a total of 32 points) made it clear it wasn’t intended for a local audience.
In WA, Perth had to suffer through a 4-hour delay of the State of Origin. I’m not sure whether Perth was the only city to have the Origin game shown on delay. With the State of Origin delayed, this had a huge effect on the ratings.
That night, SBS showed a soccer match between Australia and Greece in front of 95100 people at the MCG. I wonder if this soccer match was a pre-World Cup match during that night.
Ellen DeGeneres Show used to show on 10 during middays back in 2006, but that was stopped. (I don’t know why 10 stopped showing Ellen back in 2006.) I think that might have been got to do with the launch of 9am with David and Kim, which rated very low during its 9am timeslot.

Correction, Ten bought the rights at that stage, but ratings were poor, so they did not extend. Around 2007, WIN purchased it, then after WIN and Nine made up, Nine got the rights to air it nationally.
State of Origin was the first sporting match to be shown on a 3D telecast. However, REgional WA and Perth viewers had delayed coverage of the State of Origin at 9pm and 9:30pm respectively. When STW9 was owned by WIN, they delay the rugby league. This caused an uproar from Nine Perth.
What also didn’t help was the fact they lost the IPL rights on the eve of either the 2nd or 3rd tournament (think there was some sort of last minute contractual issue as they had played the promos throughout).
