@AirJordanFan93 From memory Coronation Street started with episodes from August 2003 in October 2005 on 9 Perth. I am not 100% sure but I think the first episode’s storyline was with Roy Cropper telling his wife Hayley that he woke up in bed next to Tracy Barlow. For some reason I remember the end of the episode with Hayley knocking on Tracy’s cab window demanding she tell the truth about what happened with her husband while Tracy was leaving the street to head to London. They started with a double episode so if that was the end of episode 5556 then the first episode they aired must have been 5555. I remember now with Hayley coming back after some time away. Thanks. I know what was going on the show around that time since I have watched a lot of that period online.
@AirJordanFan93 Did some more sleuthing and found an old post on a forum that had a EPG listing of 9 Perth for Friday, April 14 2006. The description for the episode for that day is for the Coronation Street episode that aired in the UK on January 4 2004. Episode 5661 (4th January 2004) | Coronation Street Wiki | Fandom Coronation Street was now airing at 3:00pm Weekdays at this point. Seems like they lost faith in it as a lead-in for the news, Though they likely had more invested in Family Feud with Bert’s return to the netwrok at the start of the year.
The introduction of Coronation Street single handedly destroyed the significant progress that Nine had made against Seven in 2004 / 2005. At one stage they were only about 20k viewers behind, Corrie was introduced and it was back to 50k and then 100k behind within 12 months.
In New Zealand Coronation Street had a messy time slot change in the 2010s where it was put into 5.30 weekday slot to make way for MasterChef Australia final in October 2011, then moved back to Thursday and Friday installments were introduced and in 2013 it moved to 90 minute slot on Friday and by early 2014 it aired 2 hour slot on Friday and and 1 hour Saturday and 2016 saw airing 2 hours on Saturday then 2017 saw airing 8.30 Thursday to Saturdays into 2018 it moved 9.30 Tuesday to Thursday when Coronation Street catch up to bring forward close to UK broadcast by 1week and 2020 saw moving it into Tuesday to Thursday
This would have been at the time GLV10 started relaying its programmes from BCV8 Bendigo (but with local commercials and news inserted). This arrangement began in early December, 1973. They were known on air as BCV-GLV. The beginnings of what is known now as Southern Cross Austereo.
A Country Practice was rerunning in 2008? strange it was 2009 when i started taping those 1am reruns
Some strange re-runs were doing the rounds around that time, still recall for some reason after the Oz Open tennis earlier that year (often ending at 1AM or later) they were showing Power Rangers Time Force…
That is a random one. One of the reasons I love the guides from the 2000s is just what random stuff they would throw on during the overnight periods before the early morning news bulletins would air.
Better times, so much varied content. Now everything is so spread out the schedules look more boring.
Movies from 11pm until the early hours of next morning was the norm in the 80s
I love the randomness of Casino Royale being the midday movie. Also, I believe this was the last summer that WA would have only gotten the final session of a test match aired on TV, Starting with the 2006/07 Ashes WA would get full coverage of Test Matches moving forward.
Also, Really liking the WA centric posts
Grounded for Life was a great show, pity Seven nor Foxtel gave this show any love. Seven often buried it in the then-dead timeslot of 11am weekdays, Foxtel gave it a go in prime time on Fox 8, but after one season they stopped showing it instead of going onto the next season, they were years behind Seven.
I remember watching it when I could in that timeslot on Seven. I think it may have aired in the early afternoons at one stage also?
Yep, 7 aired it throughout 2004/05 in its late-morning slot usually either 11 or 11:30. I remember seeing some Season 2 episodes on Foxtel in early 2007 I think it was still on FOX 8 at the time but it might have been Comedy Channel at that point. It was always one of those shows I would desperately seek out for years but it was pretty much impossible unless you imported the DVDs from the US.
At the end of 2005, they aired Season 5 at 3 pm when the summer holidays started in mid-December. After they aired that season it was never on FTA again. Perhaps it had another afternoon slot in 2004 that I don’t remember. I just remember always wanting to watch those late 2005 airings but something always seemed to come up when it would be on so I could never see it.
