one way to knock down your opposition… pinch the host. A well-used trick by Nine over the years.
What’s Up Downunder, that aired on Seven in 2011, is that on Ten now?
And good to see Funniest Home Videos on air still in 2011. For some reason, i thought it left earlier. The guide proved me wrong. lol.
ABC was the first Australian broadcaster of The Graham Norton Show before 10 snatched the rights.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee procession is live from London on ABC
Source: TV Week
Was the Jubilee was exclusive to ABC sound the time? Commercial networks just stuck to American programming.
It appears it was. Looking at The Guardian television guide it was also exclusive to BBC television, with the ITV stations instead showing a film of the Royal Wedding from 1947, a different church service and an afternoon of sport.

FYI: In terms of television, “Station Close” or “Close” is the sequence of operations involved when an Australian television station closes transmission for the night. Because Australia is a Commonwealth country, I use the term “Closedown” as it is commonly known in New Zealand and the UK.
This schedule is from 8 June 1976.
My bad!
TCN-9 must have been close to 24/7 transmission at that point.
Becasue 24/7 did not commence till 1983.
TCN9 and GTV9 commenced 24/7 in 1976 coinciding with the Olympic Games
QTQ9 commenced 24/7 on New Year’s Day 1980
NWS9 and STW9 during the 1980s
Didn’t New Zealand TV did trail it in the 1980s which is not successful for return to nightly closedown, then in the 1990s after deregulation 24/7 did reintroduce it on Channel 2 (now TVNZ 2) in 1994.
Sadly, only 8 episodes remain from HHIS’s 1979 season.
(That’s what I’ve found on the heyhey.tv website).
