LOL! Kim Gyngell wasn’t far off the mark with his Stuart Littlemore impression, going by the clips of old Media Watches I’ve seen online before.

Now this leads into something that Australian TV desperately needs these days - a half decent satire/sketch comedy program. You could probably fill up half an episode just on parodies of politics, Gogglebox and the glut of dating/relationship/wedding-themed programs on TV! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Dear TV networks - I am available to front such a show. I work cheap. DM me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Fox tried it a few years ago, with people from the Fast Forward days plus new “comedians.” It was shit. Politically correct and not one bit funny.

We won’t see sketch comedy on TV anymore like we used to because people aren’t interested in that kind of programming these days. Reality shows are here to stay whether you like it or not.

The other reason is the woke mob will go and have the TV networks burnt to the ground all over a seemingly innocent gag by finding a reason to be offended.

Yes, it was Jerry Springer at 8:30pm and WWF Superstars at 9:30pm. IIRC it was around 1998, hopefully someone can post the guide from that time.

Also Xena and Hercules were a staple. What a great lineup compared to the garbage they have on Saturday nights now.

‘Prisoner in Concert’ aired in Melbourne. The TV Week article from the next edition warned readers that it would air in other states at a later date :grinning:. See earlier post by @TelevisionAU for SBS guide for that week.

Full Frontal would run for five years before making the ill-fated move to Ten in 1998.

Really?? Totally Full Frontal went for two years, it can’t have been that monumental a mistake?

I wouldn’t even rank this one in the top 100 of “mistakes”

It was already on the downhill spiral once Bana, Micallef, et. al., left.
