Anyone know the reasoning why BCV8 used to skip the first hour of Sounds with Donnie Sutherland and start it at 10am instead of 9am as it was on HSV7. I remember when The Prime Network RVN/AMV started showing Sounds in 1987 they showed the full three hours. BCV did this until well in the Video Smash Hits era.

I don’t know why, but it does seem that regionals tended to show a two-hour or shortened edition.

CTC7 used to do it.
NTD8 used to show a two-hour edition on Saturday afternoons (at the time, probably on tape delay from the previous week)
GTS4/BKN7 also showed a 2-hour edition in the early 1980s.
STW9 in Perth also carried a 2-hour edition in the late 70s/early 80s

I thought it might have something to do with some regionals taking Hey Hey as well?

The stations I listed did not carry HHIS at those times. But others might have.

the regional Victorian network began showing Hey Hey It’s Saturday in 1982. Because of it BCV, GLV and STV screened Sounds from 11am to noon.

Some people would write into HHIS saying they are watching on regional stations such as GMV-6.

I sent in a funny magazine photo/typo for “Media Watch Press” on HHIS in 1982 and it was on this segment, Ossie mentioned my (hard to pronounce) surname and I ended up winning a Cluedo board game. My classmates used to tell about me being on the show at school on the following Monday.
