A reminder Peter Mitchell worked at Nine once.

But Max Walker there too? Perhaps to give Cricket scores or a cross to the MCG?

Nine didn’t have late night cricket highlights for Melbourne viewers in 1986, so fans who didn’t go to the game would have to watch every news bulletin to get as much vision as they could.
I also noticed in 1979, ABC and Nine both showed the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race live. How?

Seven too. Talk about diluting the audience when there were only 4 channels to watch in 1979.

The Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race had no exclusive telecast arrangement for years. It was not unusual for at least 3 of the networks to be covering it.

I think it was the same too for the America’s Cup when that took place in Fremantle in 1986/87, it was covered by multiple networks.

There’s the iconic red Seven Sport blazer in shot three the hosts of Holey Moley should’ve been wearing.

This was before 10 had a Perth Station.

From a fading memory I can recall a double header weekend sport for a time. Usually two segments after a short news segment. Don’t recall if it continued after Mitchell moved to HSV.

Max Walker was with National Nine News for a few years reading sport at GTV amongst his network commitments.

re: Can’t Stop The Music

I could not see it aired on New Year’s Eve 1993 going to 1994, or 1994-95.

For 1995-96, it aired at 1.45am on 1 January 1996. (it was preceded at 12.02am by the David Bowie film Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars)

Wow, Simply Irresistible. I always used to look forward to seeing what crappy game shows they would dish up over the summer while the usual shows were on hiatus.

I don’t remember this one at all. What was it about?

Simply Irresistible was a dating game show that ran on Nine in 1995 and hosted by Paul Holmes.

Not to be confused with New Zealand’s own (Sir) Paul Holmes, who died on 1 February 2013. He was one of the award-winning current affairs broadcasters in New Zealand.

Aired live from Fremantle

I’m assuming these were the days when Nine couldn’t cover the test match cricket (live) into the local market it was being played in?
