I do recall Sandy Scott hosting Family Feud for a brief period.

Sydney, 21 September 1957.

The ABC, Seven and Nine all had a live broadcast of the Sydney Rugby Union Grand Final. The far more popular Sydney Rugby League Grand Final, St George vs Manly-Warringah, that was also on that day was not televised as the NSWRL did not allow regular broadcasting of games until 1961. It appears that the only coverage of the game was on 2SM.

At 5:00pm Seven broadcast two exhibition basketball games that were played at their Epping studios.

The VFL Grand Final was also on this day. Seven replayed the final quarter the following weekend.

I think the closest thing he had to family would be me, his ex-wife Michelle. Funny that no one got in touch with me, since I would have liked to know. Only found out six months after the fact, by doing a Google search. Did you see that his house just sold at auction?

Sorry for your loss, Michelle. I didn’t know Ralphe personally but I hope you find comfort in the fact people took an interest in him and he seemed to still be involved in his community with people in his day to day life looking out for him.

It strikes me as I get older that the passing of people we encounter in life, significant and brief relationships, still has an impact even if they have faded from our lives and contact has been lost over time. It has happened to me a couple of times in the past month. Only found out one childhood friend had passed when somebody mentioned they saw me in an old photo of the neighbourhood kids at her memorial service. Had chatted to her family members in the last few years but hadn’t seen her for many years. The loss is still felt.

That episode of The Young Doctors on STW9 seems to be about a year behind TCN9 - I seem to remember Vicki’s son being killed at the end of the 1978 season.

I noticed ATV10 was scheduled to show the movie “Network” that night. I’m pretty sure that movie is based on a, sadly, true story.

it was apparently inspired by a true story (where a news anchor shot herself on camera) but not based on one.

Maybe they should’ve hosted this year’s Mardi Gras.

Today’s TV: 8.3.1974, Melbourne. Includes live coverage of the TV Week Logie Awards.

Earlier in the day, Channel 0 crossed live to Spencer Street station for the arrival of the “Spirit Of 96” train which had the cast members from Number 96 arriving for the Logies. After the Logies, Channel 0 had a half-hour coverage from the Logies after party. Different times!

Frasier at 9:00…just doesn’t look and feel right.

As for the Footy, North beat Richmond, but would lose to Carlton who would beat Geelong to win the pre season comp that year.

might have been just filler programming for Melbourne while NRL was on in Sydney in prime time?
