Found this while scrolling Reddit. The NZ TV Schedule from the 12th of September 2001. I don’t think many of these programs on TV1 and TV3 actually aired.

@Dani-Chan Due to TV3’s (now Three) live coverage of the 9/11 attacks, almost all of the network’s scheduled programmes were transferred to TV4.

Wow, what a throwback and to see Triangle TV. So much has changed since that year.

Kinda neat to see some early morning Python on TV3, wonder how many times they ran through those episodes

Memory unlocked. Teletrader on TV4 was just on screen classifieds with music. I was in New Zealand on Anzac Day in 2001 and TV4 had the classic Phillips PM5544 test pattern that morning with a simulcast of radio station Channel Z.

Letter to Blanchy

@TV4 As the curtain rises on a new age of television entertainment in New Zealand, so does the story of the iconic sitcom, Letter to Blanchy.

On Sunday 26 November 1989 New Zealand’s first private television network, TV3 (now Three), began broadcasting. As part of its first week on air, a brand new comedy series - the brainchild of the Christchurch-based AK Grant and McPhail & Gadsby - was launched.

Letter to Blanchy followed the misadventures of three unlikely characters - Barry (Jon Gadsby), Ray (Peter Rowley) and Derek (David McPhail) - who committed various outrages on the property (and good nature) of their long-suffering friend Blanchy.

The hour-long series premiere - entitled “Jet Boat” and documented a series of outlandish escapades which involved a jet boat (as the episode title suggested), a visiting American couple and a bulldozer - screened at 7.30pm on the evening of Friday 1 December 1989. Directed by Ian Mune, the show was described as being about people getting into ‘appalling trouble’ due to their own cockiness and stupidity.

Produced by Isambard Productions for TV3, 15 episodes were initially planned for screening in 1990; however, these did not eventuate due to financial difficulties.

Letter to Blanchy was later picked up by TVNZ with funding from NZ On Air and three series were screened in 1995 (7 episodes), 1996 (11 episodes) and 1997 (13 episodes); the episodes ran for half an hour each.

Sadly, AK Grant and McPhail & Gadsby are no longer with us.

Letters to Blanchy - very underrated sitcom. Needs a release on streaming or a physical media release. A few eps are on YouTube but the quality varies.

I don’t know what this means? Did AI do that?

But yeah, M&G were such an iconic comedy team. Chuck in Pete Rowley and you pretty much had viewing gold every time.
