On Monday 14 September, TV One (now TVNZ 1) introduced a new afternoon lineup and moved its Film on One slot to just after 9am. This included Jeeves and Wooster and reruns of the British sitcom Brush Strokes, plus the Australian soaps E Street and Home and Away.

In fact, E Street was first shown in New Zealand on TV3 (now Three) in February 1991. Whereas E Street was shown in a twice weekly format in Australia, the show only screened once a week, particularly on Thursdays at 7.30pm, until it was replaced by The Ralston Group and the British sitcom Shelley due to poor ratings. TVNZ picked it up in 1992 and went to air Fridays at 7.30pm on Channel 2 (now TVNZ 2) until it was dropped and Channel 2 moved Beyond 2000 from 8.30pm to 7.30pm with Quantum Leap to follow at 8.30.

Also transferred from 3 was Home and Away, which had been a permanent fixture in the network’s schedule since its first appearance on New Zealand screens in December 1989. The last time Home and Away went to air on 3 was in the first week of January 1992.
