@AK_NEWS The WTV Local News bulletins need to be produced as 16 separate editions out of four studios: Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
Reporters and camera crews will be based at newsrooms in the upper North Island (e.g. Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Whakatane, Rotorua, Taupo) with studio presentation for the Northland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty bulletins pre-recorded at WTV’s Auckland studios. The Auckland edition of WTV Local News will be broadcast live, but may also exchange it to any of the three pre-recorded bulletins in the event of a major breaking story. News editing will be undertaken by the local newsrooms, and sent to the main Auckland studios for transmission.
The Wellington studios will play host to the live-to-air Wellington edition and pre-recorded bulletins for Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki and Manawatu/Whanganui viewers. In the South Island, the Christchurch/South Canterbury edition will be broadcast live and its studio will produce pre-recorded bulletins for Nelson/Tasman, Marlborough and West Coast viewers. And in the deep south, WTV’s Dunedin studio will produce the live-to-air Dunedin edition and pre-recorded bulletin for viewers in the Queenstown/Central Otago and Southland areas.
It’s like a New Zealand equivalent of Seven News for Regional Queensland which are broadcast each weeknight at 6pm (local time) and produced as seven separate bulletins for the following areas: Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Wide Bay, Toowoomba, the Sunshine Coast, and Rockhampton. The bulletins are anchored by Rob Brough, with Joanne Desmond co-anchoring the Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton and Toowoomba editions.
Reporters and camera crews are based at newsrooms in each of the seven regions with studio presentation for the Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Darling Downs, Rockhampton and Wide Bay bulletins pre-recorded at studios in Maroochydore. The Sunshine Coast edition of Seven News is broadcast live, but may also exchange it to any of the six pre-recorded regions at certain circumstances (e.g. cyclone coverage in the nearest region of immediate concern). News editing is undertaken by the local newsrooms, and sent to the main Maroochydore studios for transmission.
*Viewers who live in the Kapiti Coast and Wairarapa will be able to receive the WTV One Wellington signal if possible.
