CBJ is one of the most beautiful, talented and hard-working young ladies I have ever met. She worked with us in Newcastle for a year or so and came in often to learn panel and producing etc. She deserves all the good things.

Radio Today had a nice write-up about her.

As mentioned on the “Southern Cross Austereo (Regional)” thread, Maz Compton is moving from Hit NSW Breakfast (which will come out of Newcastle from next year) to 107.7 Triple M Breakfast with Paddy Gerard, replacing Rob Palmer.

Why does the lower rating Central Coast station get local breakfast but Sea FM is networked?

They see Triple M as it’s “local” station where Hit will be nationalised.
101.3 will become a “satellite station” to 106.9 so sounds like it’ll be a direct feed.
Can’t see SCA getting out of the basement on the coast anytime soon unfortunately.

I can see Star 104.5 making a promo out of SCA’s “satellite station” comment regarding Hit 101.3

“Star 104.5… the Central Coast’s # 1 station… even the competition says they’re no longer important”…

I don’t think it matters they are still killing them in the ratings

I agree the music is all over the place, but the fact the audience doesn’t have an issue with it, and it is the most local of the three makes it reign supreme.

If SCA wanted to win the Coast back, they would go back to Sea fm and 2GO with mostly local programming and playlists locally researched. Is the Hit 101.3 satellite station of Hit 106.9 going to be voice tracked from Newcastle with local breaks?

I interpret “satellite station” meaning there’ll be absolutely no local announcers on Hit Central Coast.

They’ll probably voicetrack a 3hr workday shift.

Mornings will still come from Gosford - it’s only breakfast that is changing.

Radio stations used to be filled with people who cared about radio. They knew their listeners and and were focused on giving them what they wanted.

SCA is now filled with people who only care about short term profits. To hell with the local audiences. To hell with local branding. To hell with music that’s put together to serve the locals.

Hit 106.9
Hit 93.9
Hit 102.1
Hit 98.9
Hit 104.5
Hit 103.3
Hot 94.5

On and on and on.

Boring. Boring. Boring.

I think it’s the sterile radio is what’s costing them listeners and revenue.

I’d like to think that if they build stations with passion, the product would improve and listeners and thus revenue would come back.

Big news for the Central Coast’s #1 breakfast show.

Any idea where he’s headed?

Mind you, it’s a good time to do whatever they feel like at Star104.5 with all the changes at SCA.

His contract wasn’t renewed. Interesting.

Wtf. Something’s gone down.

This actually might make Hit 101.3 more competitive in the market. I still think Star 104.5 will maintain their dominance but the margin between first and second will be much closer. Unless the new Star 104.5 breakfast show bombs.

In 2024 even Triple M CC have made changes to their breakfast show, so the 2024 survey results when they are released will be an interesting read.

Rabbit’s professionalism is what made Star’s breakfast a success. Gina won’t make it on her own unless they’ve got solid metro talent heading up the coast.
