CBS News

It would be a travesty if Vladimir Duthiers isn’t involved in one way or another post-Gayle or even as a replacement for Tony. He’s been fabulous.

Though I guess he might be happy to be just a correspondent, which CBS has too many of at the moment especially with high profile names (Norah O’Donnell, Anthony Mason etc.)

Surely it’s not going to be a full green screen set… Hopefully?

it’s worked for ITV for years now

And Channel 10 in Melbourne too

Wasn’t this just because he was in the KPIX studio which uses a green screen now?
Looks terrible.

Given CBS invested big into the fully digitial set in NY which debuted with last year’s CBS News refresh, I doubt they’ll be moving out of that space.

That was my thought. A massive waste of money if the plan is to use a green screen set for the broadcasts considering the studio upgrades.

looks like it’ll be a different studio by the looks of this promo:

Looks like the old Studio 57 but more fancy and posh.

What a waste of time it was getting that nice and fancy studio for Dickerson and DuBois only to move back into the newsroom.

They were back at NYC

Reverted back to the 1991 Dan Rather theme tonight along with moving back into the newsroom set, a step back in my opinion from the Dubois and Dickerson set

A shocker. The font of the logo is especially so dated.

Love that theme, glad it’s back. Wish they had a sweeping shot of the set at the start.

Logo looks a bit thin, and Tony doesn’t need to say his name twice.

I don’t think newsroom sets scream Flagship national bulletin. I agree the Dickerson/Dubois set and style has the gravitas and quality tone.

They’re aiming for the Rather era so understandable.

But it screams newsmagazine which is what CBSEN has been for a year or so now.

The tour appeared to have been pushed back to later in the week. Probably if there is an actual studio, we’ll see it after that.

Any pictures of the actual set?

This looks terrible:

Unless it’s a temporary setup until they have the studio reconfigured? He was due to be on the road so there wasn’t a plan to use a set… maybe this return to the newsroom is temporary?

I would hope it would be the case. As others have mentioned they spent a bomb on that set and the tech for it. For it now to not be used is a ridiculous decision. If you want a newsroom element build a virtual backdrop that links a live newsroom shot into it?

That was what I’ve commented but you elaborated better. Don’t read too much into tonight’s broadcast.

They turn sideways with in-studio interviews, but not sure if there’s more movement around other than that:

Really leaning into the Rather era with the music and newsroom set - hopefully not also replicating the scandal that showed him the door, lol

There’s still remnants of the DuBois/Dickerson package, like the gradient fade in the headlines and some circular fullscreen graphics, but the new font looks ugly and Didot isn’t really suited for small programme bug. Echo with everyone else re Studio 47 - to be fair, it’s used in a handful of their morning news offering, but if it’ll only be that after all the fanfare last year, it’s diasppointing

The supers now takes the same unaligned/layered style as Face the Nation and Mornings too - preferred the understated style of old:

Looks like they’ve gone back to a very old school type of broadcast.
