I’m not sure. It looks way over the top.

John Dickerson anchored The Daily Report for the last time before moving to CBS Evening News last week. Lindsey Reiser takes over the show.

Norah O’Donnell’s final night anchoring the CBS Evening News will be January 24, the CBS network’s news division told its staff Friday, which will bring to an end her five-plus-year run as well as the show’s run in Washington, D.C

I’m curious, why do they play the CBS jingle during weather updates? I see it on CBS News Los Angeles.

The new double-header CBS Evening News is to get a companion Plus programme (just like Mornings - how imaginative) on streamer and selected O&Os. John Dickerson is to be the anchor - are they really running low on talents?

just making use of their people more effectively I guess? 60 minutes of anchoring a night isn’t that much of an ask, for the money they pay these people.

is this set to be a renaming of CBS News Primetime, or a separate program the CBS Evening News Plus?

Can anyone clarify - is John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois a double header, or taking turns during the week?

Primetime ended this April IIRC - it became The Daily Report at 6pm ET, both hosted by Dickerson until October.

So basically the lineup consists of a show he previously hosted (6-6.30), Evening News with him as co-host (6.30-7), followed by another show hosted by him, in his former timeslot (7pm ET).

That’s why I feel like the pool is very narrow - his fingerprints are everywhere in primetime!

Variety described them as “co-anchors”, so I assume it’s the former.

I suspect they’ll be co-anchors in the sense that they’ll be stood at opposite ends of the same studio in front of massive screens, a bit like CNN News Central. Very hard to imagine them sat together behind a desk, making jovial banter with one another.

It’s all very strange, though. CBS has been very cagey about exactly how this new style will work. Margaret Brennan of Face the Nation is supposed to be involved as well. I don’t know if she’s going to be a de facto third anchor, presenting from DC, or just some sort of special correspondent. It’s all very murky. I don’t see it lasting too long, tbh. Probably in 12-18 months it’ll revert to a more traditional single anchor format.

Would most likely be a load of speculation, but someone uploaded some visuals supposedly for the new CBS Evening News (Plus) to Logopedia of all places:

The user who uploaded those is now banned, and I couldn’t find them anywhere official (Google Lens isn’t returning anything useful either). But if it’s a mock, it’s at least good enough to led Google to put this as the thumbnail for CBS EN Plus:

i hope its just speculation

CBS has done a good job unifying everything design-wise, this will kinda ruin things in a unity perspective
