Carols By Candlelight

Well so far this is about on par with Carols in the Domain.

Kudos to David Campbell for handling hosting and performing.

He’s done a good job. And actually much more tolerable on his own.

David’s been a class act tonight, as usual. Such a natural, a pro. He credited Sarah Abo earlier as being able to “do the Today Show with her eyes shut” or something… Well same goes for him and live TV. Could do it solo again going forward TBH, as much as I do prefer Sarah / a female co-host there.

Meanwhile… How fantastic was that duet with Campbell and Hitchcock. One of the highlights I reckon, bravo. He’s wasted doing his current TV contract IMO, the morning show on 9, should be focussing on his singing, dancing and acting, but nails the Carols for what it’s worth.

An hour behind in Qld, but so far apart from
David’s hosting, the only acts worth celebrating have been Denis Walter and the choir. Everything else has been just as poor as Sydney’s effort on Saturday night… for all the same reasons.

Not sure you can fault Silvie or Marina

Silvie was disappointing. Haven’t seen Marina yet. She’s usually great.
Anthony Callea over the top as always. Was he dressed as a marionette?

Who were the duo that performed Little Drummer Boy? Usually not a fan of that carol but I thought their performance was great, but I tuned in for the middle of it so didn’t catch their names.

Okay so it probably wasn’t her greatest performance ever, but it was the song selection, didn’t really let her reach her full calibre, plus the dress was off and the overt religious moment. But I still couldn’t fault her, she’s a perfect singer, a treat for the Carols and us.

Having various performers going to the lectern to talk with David has been a classic case of they called a audible. What they decided to do at short notice.

Just started in Perth. Obviously knew Sarah was going to be absent but it feels a bit odd. Even David standing at his microphone stand and the other mic stand just standing there.

Very bizzare not to have a fill in co host.

Surely 9 could’ve shipped someone over there in time.

And 9 knew Sarah was not possibly going to attend, yet still continued to promote her, including verbally at the end of the Today show today.

Poor from 9 on that part, unless Sarah only informed them late.
Or the office had the interns in today only

Having David as a solo host does work out, Ray Martin hosted solo for nearly 2 decades

How dare she be religious at Christmas. You’d think the true meaning of Christmas was actually religious.

I didn’t say I was against it, just making a point as to what many would’ve been thinking and were writing online. I’m in fact all for it

Question would be if they could find someone who would be willing to re-arrange their Christmas/summer holiday plans to be able to fly down to Melbourne to host the event?

There are plenty of capable presenters in Melbourne. Flights don’t need to be involved.
