No thanks.
I’d much prefer David and Ally then Melbourne presenters such as Eddie McGuire and Tony Jones etc.
It’s a family event and they don’t scream family to me.
Livinia though would be good.
But it airs across the country? I get that we’re a parochial country but really for a national event there is not point in pandering to a particular city’s audience. Plus the usual highlights (Denis Walter and co) would already represent Melbourne already.
Nothing is stopping Seven from using Hamish McLachlan (spew) and Jacqueline Felgate from hosting Domain. They’ve just (sensibly) chosen Kochie and Nat.
Back for their second year together, David Campbell and Ally Langdon will host Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight presented by AAMI live from the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Friday, December 24, at 8.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
With just 47 days until Christmas, another star-studded lineup of artists has been assembled for this sparkling night of Christmas cheer.
“I can’t wait to be back hosting Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight this year. I love Christmas! It’s such a special time of the year, especially when you have small kids. I couldn’t be happier to be part of Australia’s much-loved Christmas Eve tradition and to help raise money for children and their families who are blind or have low vision,” Ally said.
“Christmas is such a lovely time of the year, and we go all out in our house. I’m honoured to once again be a part of such a Christmas Eve tradition, and to be able to bring some Christmas joy to families all over Australia. It’s always a wonderful night for a great cause, raising much-needed funds for Vision Australia, and after such a tough year for millions of Australians, I’m so glad that crowds are back to help lift our Christmas spirits,” David said.
David and Ally will be joined again by Channel 9’s Carols family stalwarts including David Hobson, Marina Prior, Silvie Paladino, Anthony Callea, Tim Campbell, and Denis Walter, with more exciting performers to be announced in the lead-up to the event.
2021 marks the 84th year of Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight, and with full crowd capacity now allowed, the nation’s favourite Christmas Eve tradition will celebrate a long-awaited return to its full grandeur.
Carols by Candlelight is Vision Australia’s biggest annual fundraiser for children’s services, with 100 per cent of profits from ticket sales going directly towards supporting over 2300 families whose children blind or have low vision. Tickets to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl go on sale Wednesday, November 17, and can be purchased via https://carols.visionaustralia.org/.

According to today’s Sunday Herald Sun, Rob Mills and Bonnie Anderson will also perform at this year’s Carols by Candlelight.
Herald Sun is giving away 20 family passes to the event as part of the paper’s Comeback Melbourne competition. Enter here
Early details of 3AW live coverage
Is it broadcast on The Light anymore?
For the first time ever, Carols by Candlelight will be screened on the big screen at Village Cinemas in Victoria and Tasmania
According to Village Cinemas website, Carols by Candlelight will be screening live in Geelong, Morwell, Shepparton and a majority of Village cinemas across Melbourne, as well as Eastlands (Hobart) and Launceston in Tasmania.
Tones and I will make her debut on Carols by Candlelight this year, according to today’s Sunday Herald Sun. However she is expected to perform a Christmas song rather than one of her original hits.
EDIT: Tones and I’s appearance was confirmed by the show’s official account today.
Isn’t that the case with all artists?
That would make sense since it’s Carols by Candlelight. Wouldn’t it?
EDIT: there is a 20-page guide and songbook inside Sunday Herald Sun.
And The Original and Best Carols is Simulcast on Nine’s Radio Magic 1278 in Melbourne, 2UE Sydney & 4BH Brisbane, as well as Vision Australia Radio Stations.
Behind the scenes
Maybe Doug should stick to conducting…
It’s not a very good event tonight so far. When Carols in the Domain is better there’s an issue.
I’ve quite enjoyed it actually. Would prefer Melbourne hosts though
This whole show is terrible. I don’t know what’s going on tbh.
