2CC/2CA should really go sponsor the Summernats to keep the petrol car/AM radio dream alive.
Richard Perno is back in Canberra. Heâs been filling in for Stephen Cenatiempo on 2CC Breakfast this week.
He was on 2CC when it became a talk station in the 90s. More recently he left 2DU Dubbo for a brief stint on 2CC Drive in 2018, after which he returned to 2DU, and has most recently been in Tasmania where he took over Tasmania Talks and last year was hosting breakfast on LAFM.
Speaking of Tasmania Talks, I havenât heard Richard Pernoâs Tasmania Talks predecessor Brian Carlton on 2CC for some time. I think the last time was last year.
Hit 104.7 cut off Yes Booneâs âAll I Really Wantâ about halfway through earlier today. Do they simply not care about new Australian music from âunknownâ artists/DJs anymore?
Hit 104.7 are currently promoting a âHometown Hitsâ even that will occur on November 27, 2025 (Ausmusic T-Shirt Day). 3 songs from Canberra acts will be played between 10am-3pm on that day.
3 songs in 5 hours isnât a very big contribution really.
Agreed. Just shows how little they care about local music. Iâm sorry but this wonât be well received by us. If they say theyâre bringing Canberra music to Canberra radio then Iâd expect them to have a whole shift dedicated to just that, or even 20 songs in a row, not 3 songs and then switch the playlist largely back to the USA.[1]
Want Canberra music in Canberra radio? The commercial stations there want very little to do with such music, only willing to play about 2 or 3 Canberra songs during a local shift, if youâre lucky.
Pressure your local community radio station to start a new radio show where Canberra acts get their time on the airwaves, the music made in Canberra that commercial radio (even Canberra commercial ones) largely ignores.
The most popular Top 40 songs right now come from there, like Taylor Swift e.g. âŠď¸
Can anyone name 20 songs/artists from Canberra?
Hereâs a couple of them, from what Iâve found thus far. Largely just artists/bands, but thereâs an article on the 2nd link showcasing an example list of Canberra musicians.
The promotion is for seemingly new talent. Though if they really wanted to support or encourage new artists, theyâd offer more than just âexposureâ.
I understand that Hit 104.7 is not providing financial conpensation for this opportunity
(sic)
Their biggest export would have to be Peking Duk and its members including Adam Hyde aka Keli Holiday whoâs charting on the Aus singles chart at the moment with Dancing2.
Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are also from Canberra. The band won Michael Gudinski breakthrough artist award at the ARIAs last year, and presented the same category this evening.
Now I have a clear sense of direction going into tomorrow.
Hit104.7 just announced that it will be 1 Canberra song each hour between 10am and 3pm.
Better than saying â3 Canberra songs inserted whenever the hell we wantâ.
Hahahah âWeâre playing 5 Canberra songs in honour of this momentous dayâ.
How embarrassing!?
Here is your local playlist.
Hit104.7 isnât currently displaying any Radiotext on digital radio. Iâve flicked to FM and itâs unaffected.
OkâŚso this is what makes news these days!
Must be a really slow news dayâŚLOL
One has to hope that wasnât self-sent in. And yet if it wasnât it looks worse for radioinfo publishing this stuff. True nothing story.
i donât really have an issue with quirky or fluffy stories being published in the mix of stories. Not everything has to be news-intensive.
Iâm looking for a song that was played around 2.15pm today on Hit 104.7. The song was a (presumably very recent) female indie pop tune and was preceded by the singer introducing herself and announcing the title of the song (which I failed to catch). The song was not listed on the station log, classifying it as âunannouncedâ.
On an unrelated note, about 30 minutes later, they interrupted a song (Sk8ter Boi by Avril Lavigne) half-way through to kick-start Gabiâs âguilty pleasuresâ segment, which annoyed me.
