I suspect now it is also about uniformity between the Sunday Project and the weekday version, where it is likely that one of the hosts is interstate. I guess now it’s just their standard to have 3 people at the desk and one on the screen regardless of current social distancing restrictions.
Also means that if Melbourne goes back into lockdown the format of the show doesn’t need to change at the drop of a hat.
At the moment, you wouldn’t have any idea this existed watching others news show in Australia. Even News Breakfast have reverted back to pre pandemic sitting arrangements.
They’ve started demolishing the studio section of the TCN Nine building at Willoughby, with some of the walls opened up to inside, if anyone wants to go take some photos, I’ll get some from the Tower site perspective later this week or early next week.
Tuesday next week will be the last day I can access the Willoughby tower site for photos, etc. TXA hands the site to MIRVAC Developments on Wednesday morning, we’ve already cleaned out most of inside the TX hall, the transmitters have already been packed up & left Sydney, for their new destinations around the country as spare parts.
TXA Willoughby site has been handed over to Mirvac for development, TX building is expected to be demolished over next 2-3 weeks with the tower starting to come down not long after.
Mirvac are awaiting confirmation, but think the crane they will be using to pull down the tower will be the tallest self standing crane in the world. They are hoping to have the tower pulled totally down by mid-year at the latest.
Last photos of the old TCN Nine site from the tower site & last photo inside the TX building after decommissioning (compare to those posted the other week).
IMO the most remote place the ABC would put a radio outpost:
Wagin in Western Australia.
Now an empty building on 56 Tudhoe Street, this building was owned by the ABC from 2003 up to 2014. Before that, it was the Commonwealth Bank building. Any interesting information about this place you know? Post it here.
Interesting idea of remote, though having been there, it feels like its in the middle of nowhere, despite being a couple of hours drive from Perth.
From all accounts that building was a white elephant if ever there was and barely used during its existence as an ABC office and studio. The key link to Wagon for the ABC however was the 6WA transmitter site a bit out of town.
