6WA is audible at night driving around Melbourne sometimes.
Yes, would definitely be easier to get in Melbourne now with 7BU gone.
Nah, it was on the car radio at Beacon Hill Lookout in my taxi.
Prime7’s Coffs Harbour bureau:
Looks like it takes up two storeys!
Should have tried to flatten the carpet before the story, even if they kept it there for a few
hours beforehand.
Looks like there is at least one other tenant in that building.
But yes, looks to be one of the larger regional TV offices.
Does anyone have any photos of WIN’s former Loxton studios?
Looks like a motel/hotel if you ask me!
… some here … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Kju7kMMIN4
I used to be the tech that looked after 6WA’s transmitter - 50Kw Nautel into a big mast with a top hat. The transmitter is in a pre-fab building next to a large unused building from the 1930’s that was built to house Radio Australia. This site is similar to one in Cumnock in NSW.
It puts out a big signal.
No photos here but I have been to the site - as I recall it had the Win transmitter in it with a feeder running next door to the BA tower. Long defunct as a TV studio but there was a Journo and camo there and a local sales rep. A tech was also based there for the region. The sales guy was a former operator and gave me a great description of an old playout system they had that used 3 Sony BVU tape decks and a homebrew sequencer. Regional TV in its heyday was very cheap and cheerful. It sounded similar to a system the old VEW8 TV station in country WA used.
Part of the old 5A building had to be rebuilt after a fire in 1998 destroyed the production studio. I do have the newspaper article of it somewhere.
Prime’s now-defunct Traralgon office:
Have they moved offices or completely vacated the Gippsland Market?
They moved to a new office maybe about 6-8 years ago.
Erin Molan from a couple of days ago on Instagram promoting some freebies or something she was given, but behind her though is a good shot of the 2DayFM studio. I didn’t know they had a glass wall.
