And another one gone, and another one gone. Another one bites the dust.
Really, I’ve been expecting this since Star launched. Why have actual cable presence when everyone can just pay for their streaming service?

Holding, based on Norton’s 2016 debut novel, will be filmed on location in Ireland through this summer.
Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones, Dublin Murders, Vienna Blood) has been cast in the lead role of Sergeant PJ Collins, who hides from people and fills his days with comfort food and half-hearted police work.
When the body of long-lost local legend Tommy Burke is discovered, PJ is called upon to solve a serious crime for the first time in his career, forcing him to connect with the village he has tried hard to avoid.
I never knew Graham Norton was a novelist, is his book any good?
To me, this looks like a dramady at first glance. Looks decent anyway.
To date, Graham Norton has written three novels: Holding, A Keeper and Home Stretch. IIRC he appeared on The Project a couple of months ago to promote Home Stretch.
ITV Studios Australia is producing a 10-part observational series Nurses Down Under for UKTV’s W channel (also the UK home of MasterChef Australia). It will provide exclusive frontline access to the people working in hospitals across Sydney. It will be interesting to see which Australian broadcaster will pick it up.
Isn’t there a UKTV Channel in Australia? Are they the same company or just licenced the name.
Could also end up on BritBox if that has launched in Australia.
Yeah its the same. BritBox or ABC likely destinations.
Nurses Down Under will air here on Seven.
The news will be a huge lift to ITV bosses who are desperate for the show to return to its original location — a former banana plantation in Murwillumbah, New South Wales.
Former Holby City star Hugh Quarshie said the cast members were blindsided by the axing, saying they only found out an hour before the announcement was released to the press.
The article below also includes reactions from former and current stars of the medical drama.
The news has already leaked even within that hour though so nowadays it’s better to control the story - and at least in this case the cast and crew were at least informed first.
Think it’s axing took most people by surprise as usually with long running shows getting the chop there are obvious signs before it finally gets axed - often a misguided revamp as a final attempt to save it. However those actually watching it say there has been a noteable drop in quality over the last year so it’s probably going at the right time, even if it’s axing is political as it is no secret the show, produced just outside London, is being culled in favour of two new soap style dramas being produced in the North.
Nothing in Australia quite matches the popularity of football in the UK.
England v Scotland scores 20 million on ITV
ITV’s exclusive coverage of England and Scotland’s draw at Wembley last night peaked with 20 million viewers/79% share across ITV and STV, becoming the most-watched match of Euro 2020 so far.
The match set a new broadcaster streaming record with 4.8m streams across ITV Hub and STV Player.
With a 20 million one-minute peak, the game becomes the most-watched football match since ITV’s exclusive coverage of England’s World Cup semi-final against Croatia in 2018 drew a peak of 27.5 million viewers.
The match coverage (from kick off to final whistle), which saw both Gareth Southgate and Steve Clarke’s teams play out a tense goalless draw, was watched by 18.4 million viewers/a 74% share of viewing across ITV and STV.
Nor America as well, let’s hope England win
Not sure if this is a uniquely Australian phenomenon, but of course we’re a country which (for the most part) is divided on which variation of football to follow.
The UK original Programming on the channel would actually decline in quality of the sale went ahead, the shows including It’s a Sin, The Dog House, Taskmaster, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and Countdown if their new season starts after the sale went ahead I hate to imagine this.
