Damian Ryan has been at Nine since 1994, was a reporter at Ten for their Sydney news during the Early '90s. Quite possibly poached after impressive coverage of the January 1994 NSW Bushfire Crisis for Ten. But that’s beside the point…

Knowing that he’s covered previous Olympic Games, surely Damian Ryan would hold some form of “Network Olympics Reporter” position at Nine News?

It would probably be a similar story for some at the other networks, particularly Seven where Chris Reason has done quite a lot of Olympics reports/coverage for their news over the years.

Brisbane had an extended update that included reactions from Southbank. Then a short promo that ended. “10 News First and Queensland together for 2032”.

Peter Overton said on the cross “we cross now to Olympics reporter Damien Ryan”

Many years ago Nine has Michael Usher at Olympics reporter in the lead up and including the Sydney games.

Early last year before 2020 was canceled 10 had labeled and crossed to Dan Sutton as Olympics reporter.

The Commonwealth Games were excellent. Superb organisation, fantastic venues and transport… it was only the closing ceremony which was a dud.

Australian broadcasters won’t be happy if swimming finals gets moved to the afternoon to allow maximum ratings in primetime for American audiences (NBC owns the rights to all Olympics until Brisbane 2032)

I think for what is supposed to have all the eyes as the opening event it was a distant 3rd to previous 2006 comm games and Sydney 2000.
