The Project crossed live to Tokyo to start the show.
There were 80 possible votes. The 3 abstentions included Australian delegates.

There will be a Special bulletin tonight from 8 P.M AEST on the ABC news channel with Matt Wordsworth hosting according to TV guides.
Seven News Melbourne only had a pre recorded clip about 2 mins after the official announcement.
Too bad watching the news channel is like looking through a glass of vasoline
Iâm sure they have research that says put some bank notes in a promo and more people will take notice.
Feels like such a hollow victory. Iâve no doubt Brisbane can do a good job and Australia always do when hosting big events, plus itâs nice to see the games go to a smaller regional city having concentrated on major international metropolises over the last 20 years or so, but there hasnât even been the pretence of a free and fair bidding process. Being openly corrupt doesnât make it any less corrupt.
It was crap.
They should have extended the news bulletin for 5 minutes so we could have seen the announcement live.
10 should have had the weather then crossed to Toyko for the announcement then have the initial reaction then finish the bulletin.
Announcement was pretty much at 6.30 on the dot so it was viable. Instead The Project was having their intro then Rachel Corbett waffling on about The Bachelor. Then they crossed to their reporter in Tokyo and were told Brisbane already won.
Agreed.
While I couldnât think of anything worse, it would not be surprising to see a Queensland rugby league player light the cauldron in 11 years time. And of course, Gladys + Annastacia (along with future NSW & Queensland premiers) getting themselves into incredibly childish debates in the media over whoâs Olympics is/was better!
Gee, thatâs an unusually convoluted way of saying âYes, everything will get more expensive during the next 11 yearsâ!
Yeah me too; I shouldâve just watched the ABC News channel stream.
Fact to let you know about the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane: 84% of the Venues are already Built for the Games, theyâll just need Temporary Stadiums and Seatings for the Rest.
Nine were suggesting people would have higher wages and their properties would be worth more plus more employment opportunities.
10s coverage was actually fine and appropriate in this instance, I thought. Sandra told everyone at the end of the news to stick around for The Project as they announced the winner and The Project launched pretty much straight into coverage after the intro and normal small talk.
Why would 10 alienate their audience or interrupt the normal news programming flow to do what every other network is doing when they arenât broadcasting the Olympics, wonât get anyone extra tuning in especially to see their coverage and are, indeed, offering alternative programming, aimed at different demos, throughout the games.
The person in Tokyo is Damian Ryan, if Iâm not mistaken.
One of Nines most senior reporters.
Thanks. Iâm not used to Brisbane reporters!
Well Damien Ryan is Sydney based but doing reports out of Tokyo. The others are Brisbane or Gold Coast based.
