They had to wait for Karen, and then they obviously had to finish on the hour.
Other than using that i*iot from ACA Steve nobody and a live cross faux pas around 8pm 9 has done an extraordinary job this evening. Their coverage was unrivalled.

Surprised that Nine managed to get so many reporters on the ground so quickly, especially on a weekend. Although the use of Steve from ACA may of not been the greatest idea.
ABC has now gone to the rest of the day’s news before doing yet another recap.

ABC did weather before signing off for now. Presumably back to 30 minute bulletins at the top of the hour for the rest of the evening unless something big happens.
Coverage was decent for ABC standards - had a few interviews with those caught up in the incident, however, suffered from a lack of reporters available.
