Stella job from 9 News
Are CNN and BBC world news now doing rolling coverage of this?
BBC- yes, CNN- not at the minute.
Enough now.
I did notice CNN started covering it, I wasn’t sure whether it was rolling or not.
Only 3-4 minutes of coverage on ABC News SA.
ABC News Channel slowing down now - now replaying the PM’s full address within 30 minutes of it being shown live.
National coverage on 9 Adelaide now - unsure if it is live or on delay.
What were the sensationalist elements.
There’s no need for rolling coverage to still be going on though when NSW Police have declared the situation to be under control.
If major developments or press conferences happen tonight, the networks absolutely should break into programming. As things currently stand though, there’s probably more benefit to have a special bulletin later tonight to wrap up the day’s events rather than staying on the air now repeating the same information and interviews that have aired time and time again over the last few hours.
The mother of that 9 month old has unfortunately died.
It is interesting seeing the praise for 9 here but then talking to friends and family they are all saying 9’s coverage was absolutely disgusting
Confusing regarding the newly confirmed death. Initially they made it seem like there were 2 deaths but separate reporters were referring to the same one.
Well this was a major incident since the Lindt Cafe incident at Martin Place in 2014
Nine’s coverage was fine from the get go but as it got along when things have settled somewhat it seemed they were trying to get more coverage out of it even if there was nothing else to report on.
For Sydney, I think the rolling coverage on 9 and I presume 7 is understandable given the seriousness of the situation. Outside of Sydney however, I do think there’s still enough interest to justify taking the rolling coverage on perhaps a multichannel (probably not the main channel however).
The problem with rolling coverage is what is unfolding now on SkyNews. Laura Jayes talking about her day at the races and Stefanovic questioning if the officer did the right thing. It becomes filler due to a lack of new facts.
Looking like coverage will be ending soon. Nine doing a summary report while Seven have started talking to ‘experts’ (when you run out of stories go to an expert)
Dan Bourchier is about to finish up. Meredith Sheehan will be taking over.
Is Seven Sydney still going?
