Bondi Beach Shooting

Kinda makes you wonder what the response would be if it didn’t.

Apparently the network schedulers pondered the same question through Tuesday morning before settling on cancelling daytime.

Another day, another live news conference for NIne and ABC News

I think the sporting events scheduled for Sunday (like A-League and the NBL) will still go ahead with spectators, but with a moment of silence prior to the start of each game.

You have made this point so many times I’m starting to feel like you’re rooting for these cancellations to happen.

They won’t. Life will go on as it should be.

Anyway, some more positive news

The BBL happened on Wednesday at the SCG

Exactly. It’s too short a notice to tell ticket holders, staff, teams, leagues, broadcasters, etc., that their game has been cancelled. A moment of silence would suffice.

Probably the bigger news out of this morning was the gun buy-back scheme - it certainly caught the attention of editors.

Redacting my previous posts, if the National Day Of Mourning is on a Thursday like the previous two (MH-17 in 2014 and QEII’s death in 2022), it would probably be a public holiday in NSW and possibly the rest of the country. Sporting events would go ahead, but with a minute of silence before play and players wearing black armbands. Radio stations such as Hit, Triple M, KIIS, Nova etc. would switch to sombre playlists for the day.

This is the moment that hero Ahmed Al Ahmed was told that people around the world raised 2.5M Australian dollars for him.

His message to the people who donated is heartwarming. pic.twitter.com/XxfrjbzgrN

So the 14yr old girl who survived of the attack gave an interview to Sky News & ACA last night.
ACA blurred her face and name but Sky News didn’t.
Any reason by doing that?

Simple reason Sky News is rubbish. They got no morals or standards!

It’s a legal reason. Child victims of crime are not allowed to be identified under New South Wales law.

Sky should be shamed. Good for Nine and ACA by doing that

This person has been interviewed with her mother and her name and image reported by Reuters and The Guardian. The BBC has published her name. So not sure how that works.

Can someone remove my emoji pls. That was a mistake and it should be shocked face not a laughing face. Thx

Well the specific act doesn’t say that parental consent exempts them from the law - only a court can given a exemption. However, the act covers children involved in criminal proceedings, so it may be possible that given there isn’t a formal trial yet, they could be considered not being involved in legal proceedings at this time, and therefore not in breach of the law.

Can’t be done.
